Eco windmills made from fiberglass, which is a derivative of fossil fuels.......OH MY!!! Along side metals which have to be MINED, smelted, and produced into working parts! Dear oh dear!
Lubricated and maintainted in working order with.......lets see now...........lubricants and plastic parts made from........OH MY!!! Derivitives of fossil fuels!!!

This power has to be transported via metal cables, which had to be mined and processed into electrical current conductors, and covered with non-electrical conducting polymers derived from..........OH MY! Again??? Yep.......fossil fuels.

And lets not forget all the the power structures, solar panels, and all the accessories that are NEEDED in order to create this "renewable energy"..........all made out of mined metals and plastics/rubbers produced from derivitives of FOSSIL FUELS!!!

And lets not forget all the employees who have to wear safety gear, most of which is created from dirivitives of fossil fuels.
And how about their transport vehicles that take them from home to work and from work to these windmills, or to the homes of where these solar panels are, when they need repairs? Mined metals and plastics/rubbers derived from..........YOU GUESSED IT..............FOSSIL FUELS!!!!

So WHO is the REAL waste of money and resources here?? Looks like all this eco bullshit to me.

And lets NOT forget the DESTRUCTION of FORESTS and the MASSIVE AMOUNTS of destroyed farmlands that have been converted to "wind farms", pretty much completely destroying area ecosystems of plants AND animals alike.

Lets also NOT forget about "solar fields" which are acres and acres and acres of solar panels used to collect solar radiation for powering electric generators.........all made from mined metals and plastics/rubbers derived from........yep, once again........FOSSIL FUELS.

And these solar panels collect so much HEAT during daylight hours, no human can be around them. And once again, destroyed a HUGE fucking area of land just to run a couple of generators for a few houses.

A draft report from the SA Producticity Commission finds that despite the state’s solar and wind delivering some of Australia’s lowest wholesale spot prices, prices faced by the state’s consumers were around 20% higher than consumers in New South Wales.

And it warns that without the rapid implementation of market and policy reforms, the situation for consumers will only get worse as more and more renewable energy capacity is added.

The Commission was asked in November of 2021 to assess the competitive advantages South Australia was getting – or not getting – from its huge resource of small and large-scale solar and wind power.

In 2020/21 this level of wind and solar had reached a world leading 62% of the state’s electricity generation, and has since increased further, heading towards an unofficial target of net 100 per cent by the end of the decade."

PV will have to become greater than 90% effective.. its currently less than 20%... Add to that the battery reserves necessary....

Solar could be the primary power supply in a world of hunter gatherers whose life expectancy was so brutally short that they would be considered middle aged by their early 20's....only a true idiot could believe solar could be more than a novelty in an industrial world.

The shear massive amount of power it takes to drive a city defies any type of meaningful efficient storage. Solar PV is a 6 hour a day source. To make a 24 hour source would require 4 times as much installation capacity.. Meaning to keep a GWatt output you'd need 4 GWatt of generation. This is not true of fossil fuel or nuclear or hydro or other steady RELIABLE sources. And with solar and wind, SOMEONE pays to have a fully primed backbone generating capacity to cover ALL of load if it snows or storms or the wind don't blow.

The enviro impact of a grid scaled storage system would be DISASTEROUS. Either in terms of land-use or toxic material recycling or risks of fire, earthquake, tsunami exposing toxins to the environment.

Not yet. I'm waiting for President Biden's tax breaks on solar to kick in and I'm exploring ways to have a solar array in my backyard as opposed to mounting them on my roof, which is close to 15 years old. I need to call a few roofers and get estimates on how much extra a roofing costs to remove panels, then reinstall them on a new roof. Which is why I'd rather have them mounted on structures in my yard. When I do get them I'm probably going to go with Maxxeon panels, which separated from SunPower a year or two ago, but still supplies their panels.

Having finished a 56 year career as a millwright, over 20 years of that in a steel mill, we viewed many safety films on the consequences of natural gas explosions. And then there are all the coal mine accidents, and black lung.

And let us not forget that your really dumb ass comments about the use of petroleum in products is not the reason for the climate problems we are now experiencing. It is the burning of fossil fuels, not the use of it as an industrial feed stock that has created that problem.
