Covid-19 will re-elect Trump

There was little chance of Trump winning even before the spread of this virus. Donald Trump is an impeached President. He should have stopped international Travel back in early February when it was clear this was probably going to happen and the United States already had its first cases. But his administration was asleep at the wheel and now the country is on lockdown. The Presidents own advisors predict unemployment will rise to over 20%. This won't be a recession, it will be an economic depression that will rival the one from the 1930s. Trump is way behind when it comes to testing, travel restrictions, social distancing, and stay in place orders. A month to two months behind. That's why we have 20,000 cases now and 276 deaths. Russia, a country that borders china only has 250 cases and one death. Russia closed its borders back in January/February. That's a big part of the reason for the vastly different figures. Trump will be easily defeated in November. His failures have led to the shut down of the largest economy in the world for months and maybe even years. His inaction and downplaying of the problem has unnecessarily risked the lives of millions of Americans.
Your bullshit has no basis in fact. In fact they are lies. Trump's early stopping of flights from China is saving the US from becoming the EU.
The EU has 15x more infections than the US for comparable populations. Thank you President Trump.

Unfortunately, just stopping flights from China does virtually nothing to seal the country from the virus. People fly all over the world and just because they are on a flight coming in from Peru does not mean the people on the plane are safe and none of them are infected or had recently been in China.

Again look at Russia. They closed their borders down. Less than 300 cases and only 1 death compared to U.S. figures of 276 deaths and 20,000 cases. CHINA HAS LESS CASES PER CAPITA THAN THE UNITED STATES! FOR CHINA TO HAVE LESS CASES PER CAPITA THAN THE UNITED STATES WHEN THE VIRUS STARTED THERE IS THE ULTIMATE SIGN OF FAILURE FOR TRUMP!

1. You believe China's numbers? Fucking commie
2. You did not address the fact that the EU has 15x more cases than the US. Thank you President Trump

The fact is, the President could have and should have locked the country down in February. Early February. No work was done in January and February to prepare for the coming pandemic. Trump dismissed the virus and told people it would go away by Spring.

If China's numbers were worse, the world would know. You can't keep an out of control pandemic killing hundreds of people a day and infected thousands a secret.

Look at the numbers for JAPAN! JAPAN currently has 1,046 cases and 36 deaths. Compare that to the United States with 24,137 cases and 288 deaths. Japan only has 8 cases per one million people. The United States has 73 cases per one million people! China is Japan's largest trading partner. Yet despite all its links and closer proximity to China, it was able to isolate itself from the virus better than the United States has done!

1. There was no justification to lock the US down in February, that is just stupid.
Trump had the CDC and FDA developing and approving tests for COVID-19 since the CDC could not do the required number of tests.

Look at South Korea, even with all their tests the US is doing better. The US is doing very well compared to the rest of the world, especially the EU countries.

4. We'll know in about 9-days how the US is doing. Will we have a mild pandemic, or a disaster like Italy.
Trump is still doing way better than Obama did with (H1N1) swine flu, at least so far.

'Between April 12, 2009, and April 10, 2010, the CDC estimates swine flu caused 60.8 million illnesses, 273,304 hospitalizations and 12,469 deaths in the U.S.'

A pandemic was going to spark an economic downturn. If it looks like America did well, compared to other first world nations, the voters should not, and may not hold the President responsible.

On this specific issue the President should be rated on:

FIRST: # deaths
SECOND: # of cases
THIRD: level of economic downturn

The virus started in China. We had advanced warning. Now the United States has more per capita cases than China! THAT IS A MASSIVE FAILURE!

This is the United States and were getting are asses kicked by third world countries. Unacceptable! Doing better than Italy does not cut it at all! Lets re-elect the President because things are not as bad as Italy? No, no one is going to accept that. THE BUCK STOPS WITH THE PRESIDENT! He will be easily removed in November.

Third world countries are not the centers of massive travel the way First World countries are, especially air travel.

Seems comparing to other similar nations would be more fair.

Ok, take Japan. First world country with much stronger links to China than the United States. Japan has only 1,046 cases. The United States has 24,000. If Trump had done his Job, U.S. cases right now would be below, 1,000 and the outbreak would be contained.

Yes, take Japan.

30 Most Visited Countries in the World + their most visited places!

24 million visitors a year, vs our 76 million.

Trump, btw, has been has multiple attempts to reduce travel to the US, for years, all fought tooth and nail by people like you.

All Trump had to do was lock things down like they are now back in February. Its what Russia did, and the benefits are showing. Trump is the Commander in Chief. He has the power to take emergency action to safeguard the US public. Just banning travel directly from China accomplished very little.

Bottom line, there is no reason for the United States to have higher numbers than Japan given Japan's stronger connections to China. That's even after taking the different populations levels into account.

Russia shut things down and so did Japan early on and they benefited greatly from doing that. Trump failed in that respect. Instead he dismissed the problem. He will lose in November.

There was vaccine for H1N1. There is no vaccine for Coronavirus, hence the massive near planetary lockdown we are under. Very different situations, not comparable.

Who would have thunk that. Chances are we already had infected people long before we even knew about the virus.

Damn wish we would outfit each president with that crystal ball. Hindsight is always so much clearer.

We are still under the amount of dead in some flu seasons. We still are under the dead from the swine flu. We aren't even equal to an average day of car wrecks.

This is the attitude that got us into this mess. "Its not that bad". There are actions the President could have taken in January and February that would have prevented the mess the United States is in and facing, both in terms of risk to health and safety of the population and the economy. Its Donald Trump that disbanded the National Security Council team set up to deal with pandemics in 2018, which was set up by Barack Obama after the Ebola outbreak in 2014.

It was the President's job to protect the American people from a crises like this and he clearly failed. He had early warning and chances to act, chances to save American lives and protect are economy from this threat and he failed to act. Putin's Russia acted and they only have 250 cases despite having the longest border with China in the world.

Donald Trump clearly failed. At least half of the country wanted to remove him prior to this crises. Now every rational person who is not tied at the hip to a political party will vote to remove him from office.
Talk about failure what about the guy in charge during the swine flu which we are told was not as communicable as this.
While you want to blame Trump you seem to forget he actually shut down travel in January while many were claiming he was over reacting, he was racist.
You try and blame someone but you also fail to blame your own side. You seem to want to pretend that they are somehow blameless. That is far from the truth. The president only has so much power. Unlike Russia that has no problem with Putin taking any measures he wants. Congress puts very fine limits on our president.

Trump shut down travel directly from China. But he should have shut down all non-essential travel from all countries at that time. We would have a situation similar to Japan right now or even better had he done so. When dealing with Pandemics, early action is necessary to prevent a crises. Because Trump failed, the United States is currently dealing with a crises that it has never had before.

Japan has very disciplined people, the US does not. US kids party all the time virus or not. The Japanese respect their elders and would never think of flouting a request for social distancing or self quarantine.

3. Japan is doing well, kudos to them, but they have a much smaller population than the US. Apples to apples multiply the US numbers by 0.38 to compare fairly.

Were you as critical of Obama as Trump?

Bottom line, there is no reason for the United States to have higher numbers than Japan given Japan's stronger connections to China. That's even after taking the different populations levels into account.

Russia shut things down and so did Japan early on and they benefited greatly from doing that. Trump failed in that respect. Instead he dismissed the problem. He will lose in November.

There was vaccine for H1N1. There is no vaccine for Coronavirus, hence the massive near planetary lockdown we are under. Very different situations, not comparable.

1. I can give you many reasons why Japan's numbers are better than the US. Japan does NOT have strong connections to China. The Chinese hate the Japanese, its a WW2 thing. Japan has very disciplined people, the US does not. US kids party all the time virus or not. The Japanese respect their elders and would never think of flouting a request for social distancing or self quarantine.

2. Trump shut down the planes from China. That save the US from what the EU is getting, you're welcome. In November the democrats don't have a viable candidate, so Trump wins easily.

3. H1N1 infected 60m Americans and killed 12,469. By comparison Trump's admin is doing much better. Your partisan talking points won't change the numbers.

1. Yep, no connection to China at all

5. Yes, now on March 21 the FDA approves such a thing...we needed it in fucking Jan. We are still behind the rest of the world when it comes to testing. That why our numbers are growing the fastest in the world, we are just now doing what they did weeks ago.

6. Look at Pence's job and his team, then look at your job and your team, and then tell me who is smarter.

7. From your 3rd link:
"Part of the confusion here is that there are different figures floating around for the number of tests that have been done. As private labs take up the slack from public health facilities, there’s no centralized database of numbers."
This is the CDC link that everyone uses for current "US test capacity", and it does NOT include private lab tests or hospital tests. Its not a good number, its way too low, it only has CDC & public health labs. Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19)

8. The US test capacity is more than enough, and more capacity is being added daily.
These are just a few of the private labs approved for testing, there are probably hundreds more that have been working for days if not a week or more.

5. yes, we are behind and the fact this test was just approved is just one more example of it.

6. His job? his job takes no intelligence and his team has nothing to do with his intelligence.

8. If the capacity was "more than enough" we would not need to be adding more daily. You defeat your own point in the very same sentence. All of those companies should have been brought together back in Jan, around the same time the leader of South Korea did the same thing for his country. No matter who you spin it we are behind the 8 ball in testing and are just now getting ramped to to match the rest of the world

5. How are we way behind when we have more test capacity than anyone else? We are more than caught up. Your talking point may have been good last week, but not this week.
6. we disagree on who is smarter
8. Adding more test capacity, especially new and faster tests is a good thing. Getting test results in 45 minutes instead of two or three days is a game changer. In January the CDC (those full-time government experts) thought they had enough capacity. When they found out they were too slow new capacity had to be added. Its added, no harm, no foul. (It takes time to invent, test, and approve new tests)

Remarks by President Trump, Vice President Pence, and Members of the Coronavirus Task Force in Press Conference | The White House

President Trump, Vice President Pence, and Members of the Coronavirus Task Force in Press Conference

James S. Brady Press Briefing Room

February 26, 2020 6:37 P.M. EST

THE PRESIDENT: Because of all we’ve done, the risk to the American people remains very low.

THE PRESIDENT: As most of you know, the — the level that we’ve had in our country is very low, and those people are getting better, or we think that in almost all cases they’re better, or getting. We have a total of 15.

THE PRESIDENT: Of the 15 people — the “original 15,” as I call them — 8 of them have returned to their homes, to stay in their homes until fully recovered. One is in the hospital and five have fully recovered. And one is, we think, in pretty good shape and it’s in between hospital and going home.

So we have a total of — but we have a total of 15 people, and they’re in a process of recovering, with some already having fully recovered.

THE PRESIDENT: Hopefully, we’re not going to have to spend so much because we really think we’ve done a great job in keeping it down to a minimum. And again, we’ve had tremendous success — tremendous success — beyond what people would have thought.

THE PRESIDENT: And, so far, if you look at what we have with the 15 people and their recovery, one is — one is pretty sick but hopefully will recover, but the others are in great shape.

THE PRESIDENT: But we’re very, very ready for this, for anything — whether it’s going to be a breakout of larger proportions or whether or not we’re — you know, we’re at that very low level, and we want to keep it that way.

So we’re at the low level. As they get better, we take them off the list, so that we’re going to be pretty soon at only five people. And we could be at just one or two people over the next short period of time. So we’ve had very good luck.

THE PRESIDENT: And we have a total of 15 cases, many of which, or most — within a day, I will tell you most of whom are fully recovered. I think that’s, really, a pretty impressive mark.

THE PRESIDENT: Well, I really think the stock market — of something I know a lot about — I think it took a hit maybe for two reasons. I think they look at the people that you watched debating last night and they say, if there’s even a possibility that can happen, I think it really takes a hit because of that.

THE PRESIDENT; Our borders are very controlled. Our flights in from certain areas that we’re talking about are very controlled.

THE PRESIDENT: We have the greatest — it’s the greatest tourism country in the world. So instead of leaving our country, leaving our shores, they’ll stay here.

And again, when you have 15 people, and the 15 within a couple of days is going to be down to close to zero, that’s a pretty good job we’ve done.

THE PRESIDENT; I think every aspect of our society should be prepared. I don’t think it’s going to come to that, especially with the fact that we’re going down, not up. We’re going very substantially down, not up.

THE PRESIDENT; But we have it so well under control. I mean, we really have done a very good job.

Q Thank you, Mr. President. Thank you, Mr. President. Are financial markets overreacting here?

THE PRESIDENT: I think the financial markets are very upset when they look at the Democrat candidates standing on that stage making fools out of themselves. And they say, “If we ever have a President like this…”

Q So far, your administration is only testing less than 500 people. And health officials are questioning whether that’s enough, comparing to other countries who have tested more than tens of thousands of people. Are you planning to test more people?

THE PRESIDENT: Well, we’re testing everybody that we need to test. And we’re finding very little problem. Very little problem.

THE PRESIDENT; So far, we’ve done a great job. When you have 15 people, with this whole world coming into the United States, and the 15 people are either better or close to being better, that’s pretty good.

Incompetent much?

The White House Asked Manufacturers for Help, Then Gave Them No Clear Instructions
As hospitals across the country face drastic shortages of masks, respirators and other vital equipment, the White House has sent out a plea for donations that’s left many recipients confused and full of questions.

In at least one instance this week, Vice President Mike Pence, who heads the Trump administration’s coronavirus task force, blindsided private industry by requesting that construction companies donate face masks to hospitals. The White House then failed to provide guidance when directly asked.

Pence asked builders on Tuesday to donate the N95 masks used at many construction sites to local hospitals and refrain from ordering more. Within minutes, Stephen Sandherr, chief executive officer of the trade group Associated General Contractors of America, contacted the White House for more details, said Brian Turmail, a group spokesman.

After receiving no reply from the White House, Sandherr sent an email to AGC’s local chapters on Tuesday telling them that Pence’s statement had taken the group by surprise.

“As we received no advance notice of this announcement and we have received no additional guidance from the Administration, it is our view that this should be considered as a voluntary gesture and not a mandate,” Sandherr wrote. Turmail said several AGC members have donated equipment to their local hospitals.

On Thursday, Sandherr finally heard back from the Department of Health and Human Services, speaking on behalf of the White House, and his group’s members were asked not to donate equipment to hospitals, as Pence had instructed. Instead, he was told the group should collect an inventory of available equipment from members, including masks, booties and protective suits, and share it with the administration.

Sounds like strong arming a f'n ghost to me. What a bunch of crap, and out of the COVID 19 point man's mouth. So what happened is the WH dumped it off on DHHS. Wow, but what else is new.

Here's what I m seeing. Trump's handling of the virus crisis has been quick and decisive. His political-outsider status has positioned him well to tackle the plague head on. He is leading the world in how to stop the pathogen in its tracks. It isn't just the US that is watching Trump, it is the world and he has taken charge in a way that make his detractors look like deranged, salivating schizophrenics on street corners.

As always, Trump has accepted the challenge at hand by pulling the sword from the stone. No one else could have done this. Lesser leadership would have already retreated into excuses and failed outright. There are no world-renowned health experts leaking criticisms of Trump but instead they are supportive of his policies.

2020 belongs to Trump.
Trump supporters are frightened that Trump will fail to win reelection the consequence of his mishandling of the C19 outbreak, and appropriately so.

This thread is further proof of that.
It happens every time someone posts disapproval concerning the actions of Fat Donnie, aka the President, which is irrationally defended... cult style.
I bet they are so worried their guts ache and are experiencing anal bleeding. Greatest President ever is a joke.

Democrats are not even arm-chair quarterbacking..... it’s all Monday Morning QB in their critique of Trump. Worse, they are providing little or no alternative plan or path when it comes to bio-defense.

Everything the Democrats have tried to do since January 2017 has blown up in their face; with exception of taking back The House.

Again, they have no plan outside of GET TRUMP.
