I'm not sure this would have gone over well on the campaign trail.

Trump says he’s not thinking about Americans’ finances ā€˜even a little bit’ in Iran talks

President Donald Trump told reporters on Tuesday that he is not weighing the economic burden of the Iran war on everyday Americans when negotiating a deal with the country’s leadership.

Speaking on the White House South Lawn before departing for a diplomatic trip to China, Trump was asked to what extent ā€œAmericans’ financial situationsā€ were motivating him to make a deal with Iran.

ā€œNot even a little bit,ā€ Trump replied. ā€œThe only thing that matters when I’m talking about Iran — they can’t have a nuclear weapon. I don’t think about Americans’ financial situation. I don’t think about anybody. I think about one thing — we cannot let Iran have a nuclear weapon. That’s all.ā€

As I recall, Don spoke quite a bit during the campaign about the financial plight of Americans. About how awful the prior admin had been with respect to inflation and the price of goods generally. And how he was going to fix all of it. Like only he can. ;)

Feigning concern for the common man has been a through line for Don ever since he came down the escalator. He's convinced a lot of people they finally found someone who cares about them. That appears to be a rather large mis-judgement by trump devotees. And not the only one. How sad.

Despite the near universally held belief on the part of trumples that Joe Biden was solely responsible for the global, post COVID inflation, there has never been a compelling argument made in support of it.

Conversely, studies have shown trump's tariffs have caused consumers to pay roughly 90% of the extra cost applied to imported goods. We certainly don't need a study to know who is responsible for $4.50 gas, causing even more inflation on the way.

Now would be a good time to have a prez who gave a shit.

Not even a little bit..

Now there’s a campaign slogan huh?
