One unusual feature of the Elections Clause is that it does not confer the power to regulate congressional elections on states as a whole, but rather the “Legislature” of each state. The elections in the states listed were unconstitutional and illegal. Since there is no clause in the Constutition for a new election, the only possible remedy would have been for the Senate and VP to reject those votes and/or for the courts, then or even now, to order those votes not counted, being cast unconstitutionally.

I've never thought it before but these findings do require that the election be overturned and Trump put in as the duly elected president.

The courts ruled that ACCORDING TO THE LAW, the governor has authority to change election rules in an emergency, e.g., a pandemic. If the governor did nothing he could be accused of hurting election integrity by disenfranchising a segment of the electorate.

According to the Constitution, you know; that supreme law of the land thingie, the governor does not.
