It does smell funny at times..... it just smells funny
Very true. Granted I don't have 60 years under my hat, but I also think it's a misnomer to claim the genre "dead" because it's heavily commercialized these days. If that's the standard than almost all music is dead. I saw some comments to that effect in another thread that made me create this one. Was trying to show that just because Taylor Swift, Luke Bryan, Florida Georgia Line, Kane Brown, etc are popular doesn't mean everybody has sold out. In fact, there are some pretty great songs about sellouts lol. I'd love for you or anyone else for that matter to provide some of examples of good country music (that phrase will definitely lead to some absolute dog shit) "current" or otherwise. I have a pretty good handle on the genre but there is always something out there you forget about or haven't heard.I have been listening to Country Music for damn neart 60 years... Taste is very subjective when it comes to music... Good Country music is a lot like porn, I know it when I hear it...

Not a big Lee Ann Womack fan but there is this.
I haven't listened to most of the crap being pushed out by Nashville in decades. For or better or worse, I was raised on what my parents listened to from the 50s to 70s.I haven't listened to hardly any New and I emphasize New Country music in the last 20 years...
That might be the best phrase I have heard in a long time. When I drop a quarter in the (stream music) juke box
I don't listen to that shit either. Chance led me that song. This maybe the first time I have heard a Jamey Johnson tune and I am really impressed... Ms. Womack I have heard of and enjoyed but it was years ago... I don't listen to radio and I sure in the hell don't watch Pat yourself on the back award shows on the tube... So I limit myself on what I am exposed to...
Haven't heard much of either of those two but twill take a look. Like you said, you know what you like when you hear it. Thanks for the suggestion.I watch memorials and Tributes on Youtube to musicians that have passed and shed tears because there gone... I am still mourning the loss of John Prine... One 14 people that has watched a close to 3 hour funeral service for Leon Russell... Was almost suicidal when we lost "the Hag"... I live in the past I suppose and I need to get out more...
Lol. I'd say never but that is just me.When was the last time she had a country song?
When was the last time she had a country song?
Nooo. Similar to rock, hip hop, r&b, whatever; corporate media and radio, controls a lot of whom or what gets made.real country music died sometime last century.....
