Some of my friends are liberals. I live in a blue state so it is unavoidable.

I have other friends who are far right Trumpsters. My brother is about as Trumpie as it gets. He stockpiles guns and can't wait for the civil war to start.

We just avoid talking politics. No problem.

What would happen if that kind of tolerance was shown on USMB? Maybe the Politics forum needs to go...

I cant post the meme in Clean Debate -- but the behavior theory goes like this.

I can be friends with people who are in my Overton Window. That window is rather wide and broad. I am grateful to many people I disagree with.

I can not be a friend to someone (almost always Progressive) who thinks I should be cancelled for my views.

I can be friends with a prog so long as I don't talk about my views. The minute I do, he becomes my enemy. They just can't take being told they are wrong, especially when you have the facts and logic to prove it

Got kids who are single and dating? Tell them they should find out the political views of the person they are dating. It should be a question asked in the first month of dating.

I don't see why. I've dated women who were liberal minded, but not really into politics that much. They just happen to feel a liberal way about things. James Carville has had a very successful marriage and his wife is a conservative Republican. As he said, they get along fine as long as nobody brings up politics.

As much time as I spend here and on politics in general, i would never hold that against a person as long as they don't try to change my point of view or argue with me about it. It's kinda like the vaccine debate. If you want the vaccine, go get it but don't try to convince others to get it too. If you're against the vaccine, that's fine as well, but do the same, don't try to convince others not to.. But we get these people here that try to get others to do what they did, and that's what I find annoying.

My best friend is very much a conservative, sucked in by Tim Pool and that group of fuckups as well. We don't talk about politics.

One group I do step away from are the quiet racists. The cowards who throw out the N-word when they think they are in a safe group. Unfortunately some of my hobbies are aligned with things that conservatives are into so I tend to run across that more than I'd like to.

Politics is the same way. You can't hate somebody because they feel a different way than you do. You can't change how you feel about anything. My father and I argue politics all the time. He was a conservative until he got older and could no longer work to bring money in, and he let the Democrats scare the hell out of him. But he's my best friend ever.

Just remember if you have to change to meet the standards of another, that person never really cared for you at all .

Depends who they are and what they saw. I'm friends with a few people on here,.. a few mind you who are from the left because they aren't as pushy about their beliefs. I still voted yes though if they treat me kindly and respectfully then I will do the same for them.

I can relate. No need to use personal insults in politics. There are leftists here that are complete idiots and others who want to have a meaningful discussion. I enjoy an adult discussion any day than arguing with a flamer.

Personal preferences related to sports, movies and bands can not be compared or related to one’s choice of politics…Political choice (these days) relates directly to one’s character as a whole…I can’t and don’t respect or like the company of those with the character to vote Democrat. Truthfully, I don’t care who you are…I will not associate with a Democrat.

However righties like Limbaugh and others would discuss games that were played the prior weekend. Same holds true of Hollywood. I don't need to tell you how I feel about their political stance, but people on the right tune right into their shows and movies all the time.

I don't hate them for it. They simply have an addiction they can't control. They turn on those movies and games and think nothing about it while at the same time, complaining about their displays or politics. Hypocrites? Yes. Should I hate them? No.

I WAS a longtime NFL fan…Niners season ticket holder for years. I dropped all things NFL as soon as the NFL sided with Kaepernick.
As you may know, there’s nobody I hate more than nutless conservative hypocrites.
Anyhow, team preference has nothing to do with one’s mental state or character it’s generally tied to geography in some way…whereas one has to be mentally deficient and completely fucked in the head to vote with and agree with the Democrat Party…again, I won’t and don’t associate with Democrats.
My oldest daughter has a rather outspoken leftarded friend, often times she’d come by the house, vacation with us, go out the boat with us, I finally had enough of her, I told my daughter she is not welcome on our boat, I told all my kids, NO Democrat / LefTard is allowed in my homes on my boats or in my presence.
Look, I’m an extremist with everything I do and everything I believe in, I take great pride in my extremism….I firmly believe that you are either an extremist or you are a compromiser when it comes to politics…there’s no room for compromise in these times.

As you know the protest is over our police for the most part. Like I said I won't turn on any sports in my house but I heard one player wore socks with a pigs head sticking out of a police uniform. That's what I mean when I wrote disrespect for authority.
