Of course, sweet corn takes up about 600,000, acres and field corn comes in at around a whopping 81 million acres.

But ... Where WinterBorn mentioned high fructose syrup, a large part of the annual crop also goes to canola oil and margarine production.

I still buy butter instead of margarine, although that may kill me.
