Commitment to God

It would be more ETHICAL if we all (different groups and cultures) had a commitment to the Golden Rule and treat everyone with respect. Unless the other person loses respect by not exercising the Golden Rule.

The Golden rule "treat everyone with respect" eh ? Agree, but first one has to earn respect, and then learn to respect one's self and others before able to know the difference's in which lay within the boundaries of it all. So many people lost now, soooooo many.

I agree for the most part.
However, for those lost in their vision and ethics (social relations), we can help them "earn respect".

Good luck with that.

They must want it first, and it seems that many these days could care less.

If one treats everyone with respect, one doesn't need to earn respect. See how easy that is.

Showing respect earns self respect which leads to being respected. It isn't rocket science and no tithes are required.

Gotta give respect in order to get it, and today no one wants to give it, but yet they expect to get it regardless of them not giving it. Ain't the way it works. Everyone don't get a trophy just for that reason alone, but the leftist agenda could care less. It's all about them and their wants and greed's.

We can do this all day.

Got something against tithes ?? Churches (some Churches), otherwise the right churches help people, and they use those tithes for that reason. Either they help them physically or spiritually by providing a sanctuary for them to be helped and healed. Both are good things.

Do you respect a murderer even though he respects you in the court room after doing henious things to another human being ? He at that point has lost all respect, and no one is obligated to give him any. Don't have to abuse him or lash out at him in the court room, but if you aren't smiling, then he would be the first to understand that or rather he should be.

yeah- and the godvernment claims the same thing and there are those who worship at its sanctuaries nation wide claiming all sorts of nonsense- difference being one is voluntary one not. "Right" churches? Who/what determines "right" church? The great outdoors is the best sanctuary there is. Helped is subjective and heal is ambiguous.
Respect is earned by showing respect. Showing respect earns self respect. Begets begets.

Commitment to God
In short but important

So true, Mortimer. We are but dust but God loves each of us with an infinite love. Though we can never understand such love, we must commit ourselves to Him, love Him and trust in His will.

What does that mean?

While at first glance, the Golden Rule sounds like a good thing, but unfortunately, it's really not. "Do unto others, as you would have them do unto you". What if a person thinks that having someone spread word about Jesus is the greatest thing that someone could do to them, and decided to do it to a Buddhist or atheist? Those people wouldn't appreciate being told that their views are invalid according to the Christian.

I think a better way of saying it is "don't do to others, what you don't want done to you". Makes it a lot easier to follow and understand.
