Coal Use Is Reaching Record Levels In India And China

  • The IEA is calling on China and India to put their climate pledges into action.
  • The agency argues that there is a disconnect between the commitments made by both countries, and their continued reliance on coal energy.
  • Global power generation from coal is expected to jump by nine percent in 2021 to a new high.

Steep hikes in natural gas prices have also increased demand for coal power by making it more cost-competitive.
Overall coal demand worldwide, including uses beyond power generation such as cement and steel production, is also forecast to grow by six percent in 2021.

Commentary:
HMM..., The unintended catastrophic environmental consequences of the Green New Deal, coming right up.
There's no doubt in anyone's mind that America has been at the forefront of Environmental safety of this planet, even though even some of our representatives appointed by previous presidents have violated their positions by allowing the poisoning of millions of Americans as shown by the Gold King Mine disaster.
And the Flint City drinking water debacle
Yet, Environmentalists including Global Warming enthusiasts led by Al Gore and John Kerry continue to beat us around the head and ears claiming we must do something about Global Warming/Global Change when it appears that no one else is bothered about it and continue on their merry way burning coal and fossil fuels.
To claim that there is little interest on the part of India, China or any other developing state is an understatement.
IMHI, Global Warming/Global Change is a lying boondoggle foisted upon America and its citizens...

So, your argument is that if the house is already on fire, what we should do is pour on a gallon of gasoline. Hard to point our finger at them when we are failing to address the problem.
Relax, we're in an interglacial cycle where our present temperature is still 2C below previous interglacial cycles.

Nowhere was that said or implied. What I claim is that if we are to be environmentally responsible it should be consistent and if we are to bring other nation states along, while they continue to increase production of fossil fuels allowing them to contaminate the atmosphere.
Where are those bending our arms to comply to the Green New Deal bending the arms of China and India to cut back?

Yay coal.

But if the 1% can make more money, the "Conservatives" here are just fine with that.

China runs on coal. It's a shame the liberals blocked Trump's attempts to save the coal industry.

The previous interglacial had, at it's peak, 300 ppm of CO2, and about 700 ppb of CH4. At present, we are at 410+ ppm of CO2 and 1450+ ppb of CH4. The only reason we are not much warmer than we are at present is the thermal inertia of our oceans. However, we are rapidly warming, and what is already in the pipeline will put us well above the previous temperatures. One must also remember that at only a 20 PPM increase, the sea levels were about 20 feet higher.

Were we to put tariffs on products according to their pollution, CO2 and other pollutants, we could influence China's industries to adapt renewables even faster than the already are.

How many solar panels and wind turbines do you figure will be needed to counter the pollution of ONE coal fired plant. Sounds like you want to drain the ocean one teaspoon at a time, moron. Ever hear of "harvest the low hanging fruit first." It is about as intelligent as you are to build inefficient clean energy products while promoting the unbridled building of dirty technology because they are out of sight and out of mind. OR schools failed you again, moron.

Or maybe it isn’t a shame…

Your link references the same unbridled pollution that they are seeing in India. Your attacks on the US, the country that has done more for the environment than any other, while giving a free pass to the largest polluters are moronic.

Yay coal.

Yeah....the Chinese and Hindus will all die of carbon monoxide poisoning.

Sew-eet. WE makes all the sacrifices and pay all the price so Xi can crank out yet more coal production and cheap energy cost while blowing all the smoke our way! Then we BUY all the stuff he makes with it. And the Earth breaks even. WE give up tons and tons of coal-burning here so that Xi can simply crank his usage up by as much! :happy-1:

You keep trying to play word games.

Why was it warmer in the past when atmospheric CO2 was 120 ppm less than today?

Meanwhile Joey Xi gets his 10% cut and the Progressive Marxist/DSA Democrat Commies continue their quest to turn America into a Communist state failure.

It's crazy that the world was 2C warmer with 120 ppm less CO2, right?
