Now what has Mitt done about this threat, or any other serious foreign national threat in all of his years in government and even a presidential candidate? Surely America has more issues other than Russia that are a risk to U.S soverignty (other bigger foreign actors, an open border, the embracing of socialism by so many, The Patriot Act etc.).

I get it, Mitt made a meme moment during a debate that people will remember every time the issue is raised. In fairness at that time (and even today), Russia was obsolete in the minds of many.

The problem today is, how many in media or government are asking how Putin can continue to fund his empire when the West squeezes him for so long? This would seem to be an elementary question. Maybe they simply don't like the answer so they avoid it...

Well the Ukraine Russian leader chose to not implement the EU trade deal he was legally required to do. And that's why opposing Putin is in America's interests. Putin's world view is to use trade to achieve his oligarchy's interests. And America- and other free market republics -function by using capital to fund what other free market countries' INDIVIDUAL citizens want.

And Trump gave Putin a free pass on Crimea.
