Normally, this is reserved for ex-presidents, in rare occasions, someone like John McCain. This smacks of political gamesmanship.

No, but Democrats allowed Trump to piss them off and use this opportunity to show the people Democrats are behind these assassinations. This should not happen.

Then you know nothing about lying in state at the US Capitol?
Does it happen w/o his approval?Trump isn't even mentioned
Will people show up with a gallows or hangman's noose? Will people riot and demand to be let in and roam teh halls breaking into offices, assaulting LE?.
I hope more than anything that this is reality.
America wants to see Erika Kirk and the Kirk children next to Charlie's casket as he receives such an honor.

Amazing how the story is not Trump but the usually mental squad with TDS appear.
Although it would be a nice gesture to Kirk's family, I don't think it's a good idea.

ole Rudy paid a hefty penalty for his liesWill people show up with a gallows or hangman's noose? Will people riot and demand to be let in and roam teh halls breaking into offices, assaulting LE?
Charlie Kirk:
Ahead of the 2020 U.S. presidential election, Kirk spread falsehoods about voter fraud, and immediately after Trump lost the 2020 election, Kirk promoted false and disproven claims of fraud in the election.
On November 5, 2020, he led a Stop the Steal protest at the Maricopa Tabulation Center in Phoenix. Kirk was considered a "big name" social influencer in Rudy Giuliani's communications plan to overturn the 2020 election.
In August 2025, Kirk called for the elimination of Jasmine Crockett's congressional district as a part of the 2025 Texas redistricting, justifying the erasure of her district by claiming she was a part of an "attempt to eliminate the white population in this country". -

typical ploy-----putting words in the mouths of the deadThe disrespect shown to the US House of Representatives:
Question: Now, I'll say that your counsel have informed us, Mr. Kirk, that you will be refusing to answer any questions today pursuant to the Fifth Amendment. Is that correct as a general matter?
Kirk: Yes
