CCP may be desperate enough to start a war to save itself

Trump is the last rich person I would blame for the economic invasion of America by china

I guess. Except he had a lot of stuff made in China, from his MAGA hats to those gold watches some of you chumps bought.

But you miss the point. Rich people in general are the ones who screwed you, not China.

The rich are going to keep screwing you as long as you keep voting in Republicans (who were the ones who let China into the WTO to start with.)

So some of these companies will probably relocate operations from China to Vietnam (Because a Vietnamese makes only $6000 a year vs. $13,000 for a Chinese.) But you certainly aren't going to be the one benefiting from Trump's tariffs.

Instead, Trump will cut taxes on rich people while stupid people like you happily pay more at Walmart for consumer goods that still won't be made in the factories Americans don't want to work in.

No....they would simply look at us as if we are stupid.

China has been hostile to everyone....including its own people. That's why Taiwan is even inhabited. Taiwan is a "prison colony" for the exiles loyal to the emperor who was installing free market trade until the communists took over.

Wow, you are kind of confused about Chinese history. I would suggest you look up "Opium Wars" and start there about what the Emperors were doing to install free market trade. Then you can move on to the Taiping Rebellion, the Dowager Empress Cixi, and the Boxer Rebellion, and realize that the western powers had been turning China into the west's bitch until the Nationalists overthrew the Qing Dynasty.

Not that things got better under the Nationalists, they got considerably worse, as warlords ran amok in the country and the Japanese invaded and killed 22 million people.

Then the Communists took over because the Chinese people had quite enough of that shit.

You are also somewhat confused about the history of Taiwan's colonization. Initially, it was inhabited by an Aboriginal people, more closely related to the Filipinos than to any other group. Then it was turned into a Dutch Colony in the 16th century, and they started importing Chinese as laborers. In the 17th Century, it was incorporated into China as part of the Ming Dynasty. (The one that is famous for the vases).

When the Ming were overthrown by the Qing Dynasty, Ming exiles fled there and set up a governmetn for a short time, until the Qing asserted their authority in the 18th century. But today, the population of Taiwan is 98% Han Chinese. (As opposed to China proper, which is only 91% Han Chinese.)

The communist party slaughtered millions of its own people.

The Communists made a lot of mistakes, particularly the Great Leap Forward (which resulted in the Famine of 1959) and the Cultural Revolution. They also made China one of the Great Powers in fact.

Currently China is hostile to Russia, India, Philippines, Japan, Vietnam and Korea. They move borders around by force and military might. Their mining in Africa is legendary....they bring in soldiers first.

Wow, wrong on so many levels.

First, China hasn't fought an aggressive war since 1979, and that was against Vietnam after the Vietnamese invaded Cambodia. As far as being "hostile" to all those countries you listed, China is the top trading partner for all of them. So we expend billions to protect them while they buy Chinese stuff.

As for Africa... wow... wrong again. The reason why China has so much influence in Africa today is that while the West pretty much ignored the Continent after colonization ended, China has invested billions in the Belt and Road Initiative to enhance its infrastructure.

They aren't the happy little innocent people they claim to be.

Um, since 1980, we have invaded or bombed Grenada, Lebanon, Iraq, Afghanistan, Panama, Libya, Syria, and probably some others I am forgetting off the top of my head. We infuriate most of the world by supporting genocide and apartheid in Palestine.

Meanwhile, China has invaded... nobody since 1980.

Not every rich person was onboard for globalism and trade with china

Do you remember Ross Perot and the “giant sucking sound of jobs moving to Mexico?”

That caution applied to china also

The blame reaches all corners of the professional class in America

Who btw, are the ones clinging to globalism today

Politicians, educators, government workers, and the media all benefit and float above the suffering of the American workers

Globalism is a good thing.

If we can't compete in a global world, then that's our own damned fault.

Wrong

Private American companies cannot compete against the CCP snd government subsidized enterprises

The chinese cheat

So dont imagine trade as a sport where referees ensure that both sides have an equal chance to win

How do the Chinese "Cheat", exactly?

Because they work harder than we do?

Because they invested in education and infrastructure?

That's not cheating, guy.

You cant be this clueless

The CCP practices mercantilism by subsidizing favored chinese companies so that they can drive US companies out of business

You mean they invest in infrastructure? Wow.

We should probably do that.

You know, instead of just giving tax cuts to rich people and hoping it "Trickles down".

Oh, hell... Ever read about, say, about 1911 Xinhai Revolution or history of Kuomintang at all?

We have been in a global trade war for years....
Only thing is....we haven't been fighting for ourselves. We have been walking away from the fight this whole time.

If I buy a product, I don't care where it was made.

Most Americans don't want to work in a factory, anyway.

A lie and a truth mixed together.

Most people who need something don't care where it's made. They buy what they want or need and don't care.

However....factory work is not horrible. You get in with a good group of guys who you like and the next thing you know 20 years has gone by in a blink.
That's the way it is. It's not horrible or even draining. Kinda fun...but you get paid to do it.
Nothing wrong one bit with being an average person who has integrity and character. Beats the stew out of someone desperate to stand out and will sell out their family to become famous.

Then why should I have to pay a 145% tax on it because of where it was made?

I've spent the last 30 years working in purchasing, flipping back and forth between manufacturing and distribution. Distribution almost always pays better.

I'd never want to work on a line

That's the way things HAVE BEEN. It's not the future or even remotely related to what is coming/in process.

The volume of robot minders and robotics repair techs needed is off the charts.

Nevermind the number of maintenance electrician guys who know the signs of a dropped neutral.

And guess what? Most of the highly skilled maintenance techs ARE primadonnas. They refuse to work unless they are getting paid well with decent perks. They only look dumb....we ain't. Far from it.

All that skill, knowledge, and ability didn't come easy or taught on a YouTube video. It's not brainless work. And the volume of people with these skills needed is off the charts to where....we refuse to even begin to show up unless we feel like it. And that's with a great salary.

The hiring of dumb idiots to turn a wrench or screwdriver for 29 years is over....been over. The few we have left are because of tax incentives by our governments creating some of the most expensive gizmos in the marketplace that usually don't sell well.

We can compete in the global marketplace....but the oligarchs don't want to. They care about nothing but themselves and their bank accounts. And this Green agenda has shifted the work to low investment/low labor cost environments.

I'm all for saving the planet....we only have this one to live on. But I'm not for dumping toxic waste in another country because it isn't illegal there and they are so poor they are desperate for any work they can get....Even incentivizing slavery to keep the costs down. (Which has been happening often)

A pair of good sneakers costs over $100. It only costs $10 to produce because of child labor and slaves. And wanting to keep the status quo is fighting for legalized slavery.

So you support slavery?

When you go into that level of hysterics, I just can't take you seriously, guy.

I mean, it's cute when you pretend you care about people in the third world.

It's not hysterics.
It's the way things are.
I didn't make them this way.
I didn't capture or force the slaves to do the work.
I just need the tennis shoes and purchase the Ones available.
I don't want to pay more for the same shoes.
But I don't want slave labor making them either.
IF you want to claim CCP is not using slave labor....that's a huge uphill battle nobody can help you with. It's not exactly a trade secret.

So,
Somebody is changing things. Somebody is fixing the slave market by taking away their ability to undercut everyone's prices by using slave labor. And I'm all in favor of that.
What's so difficult to understand?

It's not "all about me all the time". YMMV

Neither did the Chinese. (Yes, they have prison labor, but so do we. Guess which country has more prisoners? )

Chinese who can get those factory jobs love to have them. The Chinese have built 300 new cities from scratch to accommedate them.

Meanwhile, here in America, we have a housing shortage.

Again, you need to turn off the hate radio.

Chinese workers have it pretty good compared to cheap labor in Vietnam, Malaysia, or Bangladesh.

Just for shits and grins, I thought I would check the sneakers I have in my house.

One pair was made in Indonesia.
Another was made in Vietnam.
The ugly pair my wife bought for me because she liked the color was made in Cambodia.

China isn't the problem here. The rest of the world is

Quit drinking the Bleach, buddy. Nothing Cheeto Hitler is doing will change any of that. Most companies will just pay the tariffs and pass them along to you, the consumer. So all he is doing is screwing the American consumer.

When companies do Crunch time, they will probably fire employees rather than start sourcing to more expensive American manufacturers that don't exist for a lot of commodities.

Neither did the Chinese. (Yes, they have prison labor, but so do we. Guess which country has more prisoners? )
This is a blatant lie. Groundless and baseless bald faced lie.

When someone got "Shanghai-ed" it meant they got captured and forced into slave labor.
The practice so known and happens so often it's a colloquialism of speech.

Where do you think Shanghai is?

In the USA We no longer have people sentenced to "hard labor". Prisoners work on a voluntary basis picking up trash on the side of the road or other mundane tasks AS A PRIVILEDGE FOR GOOD BEHAVIOR. They aren't forced to do anything except remain incarcerated.

Whatsamatter?
You losing so badly even common sense has left your thought process?

I think you need to research the origin of that term before you expose your further ignorance.

"Shanghaied" meant that you were kidnapped to serve on the proverbial slow boat to China, when that took months.

You need to research the Prison Industrial Complex.
There's a reason why we quadrupled the prison population on mostly non-violent offences.

Follow the money.

But here's the point. We lock up more people than China does, even though they are an "evil commie dictatorship" and have five times as many people as we do
