Ukraine had a great chance to end this war in few weeks (by recognision of Crimea, DPR, LPR and refusing to join NATO). And this peace deal was good and real. They refused. Now they are going to lose (and Russia is going to win) much more.

But sanctions would hurt China far more than Russia. Russia is self-sufficient in food and oil. China is not.

Sanctions won't cut China from Russia nor India nor Brazil nor from Iran nor from DPRK nor from the most of the world.

China is self-sufficient in coal, but battleships haven't run on coal since WWI. They need diesel fuel and you need oil for that.

And they can buy enough of oil in Russia, Iran and Venezuela. Dollar is just convenient, not essential. More you use dollar as weapon lesser it is usable as currency.
