Op-Ed: CBS News giving Mick Mulvaney a paid contributor gig is an act of journalistic malpractice
Mick Mulvaney acted as an architect of democracy’s demise, and he should not be legitimized by being affiliated with a major news network.

"From mid-December 2018 through early March 2020, Mick Mulvaney, a former member of Congress from South Carolina, served as President Trump’s acting chief of staff. In spite of his record, CBS News made the decision to reward Mulvaney with a gig as a paid contributor. I’d expect this move from a Trump-aligned propaganda medium like Fox News. But from CBS News? Give me a break. It’s as if the power-that-be at the network learned nothing from a tumultuous presidency that culminated with insurrectionists attacking the U.S. Capitol. The very people who rode shotgun in the effort to dismantle democracy are being rewarded with book deals, guest-host roles on TV shows and more. Let’s be clear: Democracy doesn’t die in darkness, it dies because of stuff like this.
CBS News is acting as the reputation launderer for a member of the White House Cabinet who was central to the scheme to extort from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Is that really the type of commentator or analyst that an audience can trust? When he appears, will CBS News anchors question Mulvaney about his actions? Will they grill him about the actions of his niece, Maggie Mulvaney, who was a “VIP Lead” for the “rally”-turned-insurrection, and who was subpoenaed by the Jan. 6 House Select Committee? We all know the answer to that one."
As much as the right likes to whine about the media and claim the so-called "mainstream" media is some sort of nefarious entity controlled by the radical left progressives; hires like this proves time and time again that the mainstream media is controlled by the corporate oligarchy is devoted to one narrative and one narrative only....the bullshit "both sides do it" narrative...they must have their viewers believe that both sides are equally as bad in order to excuse away the batshit crazy which is the current Conservative movement. In fact, there would be no viable GOP if it wasn't for the "mainstream media" -- the mainstream media is nothing more but a rehabilitation program for disgraced Conservatives and their bullshit....Conservatives who should have been washed up and discarded a long time ago....
Take Bill Kristol for example; a person who was the main cheerleader for the invasion of Iraq; a guy who was wrong about everything for the last 30 yrs; but somehow, he has a seat at the pundit desk every day on MSM networks talking about Russia invading Ukraine...and not a single person on the panel stops to ask him "Who the fuck are you to say anything about invading anybody?" Not one time will you see someone who was right about that war ever sit on the same panel with the tons and tons of useless pundits who have been wrong, over and over again....because when it comes to these folks; their motto is "It's not fair remembering stuff" -- the mainstream media must remain committed to the phony both sides do it narrative because its easier to sell dick pills and reverse mortgages to folks that way than to tell them the truth....
