Actually, it IS necessary. You claim your group has the true Gospel, yet it was not invented until only recently. You conveniently brush under the rug that you believe God just allowed His Church to remain ignorant of the truth for over a thousand years.

The body of Christ and church would have been the same. There would have been no verses about what has happened over 2,000 years with now thousands of Christian denominations or churches with many of them saying they aren’t of the body of Christ. Apostasy hit the Church after Paul died and complete apostasy after the disappearance of John. There was no Church at that moment. Just religion with believers of Christ. Oh, there are thousands of organizations called churches as there are synagogues and mosques, Buddhist temples…But not the one true Church of Jesus Christ with priesthood authority to administer the ordinances, teach true doctrine and give commandments from the Lord through prophets.
The apostasy ended in 1820 when the Lord called a new prophet, Joseph Smith. Line upon line precept upon precept, the heavens opened again to mankind and doctrines and precepts of man mingled with scripture ended. By April of 1830, the Lord again restored His Church for all the remaining body of Christ in apostasy to receive all the necessary ordinances for not only salvation but exaltation in the kingdom of heaven. The time of the Jews and heathen will come as they will eventually come to know Jesus is their messiah, the Christ and join the Body-Church of Christ. The people of Judah and Joseph will become one Israel which process began with the coming forth of The Book of Mormon (stick of Joseph) joining with The Bible (stick of Judah). Those outside Israel are being grafted into Israel by adoption conversion since 1830.

You are proving my points. By the time Paul and then John died or transliterated in John's case, the body of Christ was no longer one body and one church. There were many bodies and churches that rejected the apostles and prophets. Therefore, the old world had become in a complete apostate and dark age. That included Gnosticism, the Nicene Creed and those that eventually followed from it. There was lots of persecutions early on in the apostasy as power struggles of various so called Christian churches developed because the Priesthood Authority no longer existed. Doctrines were changed as well as the manner of ordinances. "The Church" as you call it, the Roman Catholic Church developed and corrupted many nations for centuries. But, Gnostics never had the correct gospel teachings. Made up and forgeries occurred as they went against the authority of the Apostolic Priesthood through Peter, James and John. The Good news is that Christ's original Church has again been restored with the foundation of Prophets and Apostles with Jesus Christ as the Chief cornerstone.

There are some psychological studies that fit with that tendency. One of them at minimum is the research on why Fraternities with a difficult Initiation Ritual seem to have happier members........ than a Fraternity with an easy initiation ritual or custom?

They are only a waste of time if they have steered you away from the true Gospel with the only ordinances for exaltation. I cannot invest a whole lot of time in The Book of Mormon...... because I feel a calling to these discussion forums......

I must admit though that when I asked at least ten Latter day Saint Elders and Sisters if they could find passages in the Book of Mormon that they felt might be about a near death experience or something like it........ They did come back with good answers........

They also knew about 2 Corinthians 12 verses two to four in the Christian Bible and they understood these verses very much like I did myself........
