When one reads the various threads on this message board, listens to the media, listens to the rhetoric coming out of DC, it becomes a real concern whether this country has become so divided politically and philosophically that it may not ever be united again.
we have always had different ideas, but we have always been able to find the common ground and go forward as Americans with a common purpose. I do not see that happening today.
Thoughts, comments.
No, the divide is too wide. The government has created it, successfully.
And what a great avatar you have there, Redfish.
I have to disagree with you,,,somewhat.
The polarization of America really started taking off during the last decade. If we all tried to remember, Obama wasn't the first president to be called "The Divider", "W" was also labeled the "The Divider".
I put the blame on the radical right/left talking heads (no, not the very excellent band).
One can see the talking heads work being carried out on these boards. There's a lot of hate by both sides and it's reflected in threads and posts. The biggest way to see the work of the talking heads is the threads and posts, we have many, many duplicate threads and posts by several posters all saying the same exact thing. It's like a giant echo chamber here daily. It drives me crazy. It is so obvious that people are repeating over and over again what they picked up on talk radio, super biased websites or from their favorite opinioned cable news channel.
Too many people aren't taking the time to use their grey matter and energy to look at the Big Picture as it is, no they rely on resources that are driven by hate and closed-minded agendas.
To quote the band The Talking Heads, same as it ever was, same as it ever was".
