Calling Out Alang1216: The God of Abraham is a myth

Evidence for that? The greatest empire in history were the Mongols. Were they examples of virtue?
The evidence for this ought to be self evident. Two living people will always have a better relationship than two hateful people. Two honest people will always have a better relationship than two deceitful people. Two thankful people will always have a better relationship than two thankless people. Two forgiving people will always have a better relationship than two vengeful people. And the list goes on and on. Are the Mongols really your measure of success?

It's been common throughout human history. Sounds perfectly 'natural' (whatever that means) to me.
What part of even when slavery existed there were those who knew it was wrong did you not understand?

Standards exist for logical reasons even if man has not discovered it yet.

That how most societies operated until modern times. Again, sounds perfectly 'natural' to me.
Truth and logic are not decided by popular vote. Truth and logic are discovered.

How do you determine that justification other than the survival of that society?
The same way all truth is discovered… through consequences.

Your argument that slavery was good for society is idiotic at face value and a little disturbing. Rationalizations like that are pretty much at the heart of every atrocity committed by man. I’m disappointed that you would make this argument.

Known maybe, written down, I don't know about that.
Which is what I have been saying. Ancient accounts that were passed down orally from generation to generation for thousands of years before being recorded in writing on or about the time of Exodus.

Not only do you misrepresent my positions (I NEVER claimed that all equal behaviors should lead to the same outcomes) but you contradict your own positions.
No. You only used it to make an argument that you don’t apparently believe which is disingenuous.

You claimed virtue is the greatest organizing principle known to man, now you seem to be talking about individuals. As an 'organization' the Mongols were very successful.

You keep moving the goalposts. Standards are what are generally accepted in a society. If the majority accept slavery, it is the standard for that society.

Google is it.
OK:
Modern biblical scholarship, particularly influenced by the Documentary Hypothesis, argues that the Pentateuch, including Genesis, was composed from multiple sources over a longer period, with the final compilation occurring after the Babylonian Exile, possibly in the fifth century BC. This theory identifies different sources (Yahwist, Elohist, Deuteronomist, and Priestly) based on variations in style, divine names used, and thematic inconsistencies.

I don't like slavery but I try to view history accurately, not as I would like it to be. If it was so bad, please explain why it was so common historically and geographically.

People, nations, same difference. Try thinking in terms of order and harmony instead of disorder and discord. Organizing is the process of arranging “things” in a structured and efficient manner to achieve a desired outcome.

I haven’t moved any goalposts. What part of even when slavery existed there were people who did not agree with that standard did you not understand? Ergo standards exist for logical reasons. Not having slavery is logical because people aren’t property to be disposed of at the will of its owner. That is the true standard, has always been the true standard and will always be the true standard regardless whether some jackanape rationalize its not.

Great. Now ask yourself how they knew what to write about things that occurred thousands before that if not from an oral tradition?

Because they could do it. Apparently man has an innate need to follow; to be organized. Look at all of the political clowns on this board and tell me they aren’t slaves to their political masters.

But regardless, you are making an idiotic argument. You are not property.

You’re kidding, right?

Conspiracy theory much? Because again… the point of the account was leaving Egypt and establishing laws because that’s what they believed they were chosen to do. Is that captured in your conspiracy theory? Because if not this is where I remind you that you are making it about the embellishments instead of the key message. They left. They established laws.
