It takes a special sort of political cynicism to publicly thank the Ukrainian ambassador for her nation’s bravery — and stress in the next moment that we will do nothing to defend her country with our military.
But then President Biden’s State of the Union speech was nothing but bumbling hypocrisy.
Start with the fact that the mask mandate Nancy Pelosi lorded over her members for years was suddenly lifted the day before the speech, showing that “follow the science” was a bald-faced lie. Next up, Biden begging for unity, then accusing Republicans of only helping the rich.
It was quite the performance. After years of bashing Donald Trump, Biden stole his stump speech. He rebranded Build Back Better as Build a Better America, and got cheap applause for claiming he was going to get businesses to stay in the US. This after Democratic administrations have signed trade deal after trade deal that have taken industries to China.

Commentary:
Everyone saw in real time that Biden is not up to the job. He Slurred his speech, was unable to read from a simple teleprompter.
Then there is the macabre actions of Pelosi behind him.
Both bring a whole new meaning to ‘the fog of war’.
Biden is not there anymore.
If anybody thinks Russia, China, Iran, and No. Korera haven’t looked at the picture tonight and this country's leadership...a President that is obviously addled...and sitting behind him two women, one that if you put her brain in a bird, and it would fly backwards. The other old and senile.
Why are people are wondering why Putin and Xi Jinping are making their move on Ukraine and soon Taiwan. They see the weakness of the United States.

When a president's poll numbers are tanking, as the most recent Washington Post/ABC News poll shows they are for President Biden -- 37 percent approval -- he needed to do something spectacular, even radical, to keep him from sinking further. Unfortunately for Biden and his party, he did nothing that is likely to stem his free fall. Washington Post columnist Henry Olson said Biden's re-hashed agenda is "dead on arrival" in Congress.

The opening part of the State of the Union address about Ukraine seems to have been tacked on to a speech that had already been written. The words sounded good -- freedom over tyranny was one good line -- and the threat to go after Russian oligarchs may have appealed to that other war Democrats love to fight (that would be class warfare) -- but words are not the kind of weapons Ukraine needs right now. Closing U.S. airspace to Russian flights is symbolic. Closing airspace over Ukraine would be substantive, though no one wants a confrontation with a nuclear-armed Russia and a Vladimir Putin who appears to some to be increasingly unstable.
The president said he had an agreement with allied countries to release 16 million barrels of oil. He claimed that would help drive down gas prices. He said nothing about the oil the U.S. buys from Russia, enabling it to underwrite the cost of tyranny against Ukraine.
The rest of the speech was pretty much boilerplate Democrat talking points we've heard for years, including the familiar charge that corporations and "the rich" aren't paying their "fair share in taxes." Why is it that Democrats never tell us what that means? The federal government takes in record amounts of revenue. It's spending that drives the debt. The president claimed he will cut the deficit (but not the debt) in half, but that is hard to believe in light of his new spending proposals.

These addresses would be much shorter if Members of Congress were required to remain seated. By my count, there were 58 standing ovations (most from Democrats). The public might be better served and less bored if presidents adopted the pre-television-era policy of sending their thoughts on the state of the union to Congress in writing. Unfortunately, that is as likely to happen as politicians balancing the budget.


Commentary:
Biden obviously pasted together his past speeches then added the Ukraine tragedy. Now he can blame Putin for everything created by the Biden failed policies.
Today a little more than 24 hours after the SOTU, oil futures rose to $117.00 USD/barrel. The Covid hysteria is failing, Democrats need something to replace fear and get Biden's failures off the front pages.
That is seemingly a monumental job even for the Quisling MSM. World events and Biden himself along with every decision he makes are incompetent or the opposite of what is logical to normal people.
Frankly Biden's SOTU speech was embarrassing to those that elected him. He is obviously not playing with a fully functioning deck. Yes, lots of platitudes but totally devoid of any substance.
America and Western Europe are funding the Russia invasion by buying their oil and NLPG. Appeasement never works yet the left is hell bent on more. Progressive Maoist/DSA Democrats will undoubtedly make another terrible deal with the Iran terrorists Ayatollahs that are well on their way to nuclear arms. Biden hardly mentioned the disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan, inflation, supply chain problems or the immigration invasion.
