It doesn't matter if they were investigating 2012 matters, the point was that Hunter was on the board, NOT coincidently, and the company most certainly did not want an investigation of any sort. It is hardly a stretch to think that Hunter's influence and his close relationship with "big guy", who could make things happen, played a part in Shokin being fired. According to Shokin, Mykola Zlochevsky, head of Burisma, hired Hunter to "protect himself". Again, hardly a stretch. What are the odds that the VP's son just happened to be hired by a Ukrainian company under investigation? Think about it. The investigation itself didn't involve Hunter, but the company for which he represented. Joe, as the VP of the US, openly threatening to withhold US taxpayer money from the Ukraine if Shokin wasn't fired to protect his son's lavish paycheck is the issue at hand. I might also add that the investigations stopped when Shokin was fired and Zlochevsky is now living abroad, free. The fix was in and Hunter profited immensely from his father's influence peddling.

You are the one not thinking things through and letting your political bias cloud any reasonable judgement. Hunter is certainly no angel, was not qualified to be making 80k+ per month from 2014-2019 and he wasn't hired by Burisma by pure coincidence. You bought into a false narrative painted by the MSM that Shokin was not investigating Burisma. The fact as well as common sense don't align with that theory.

A Special Counsel is appointed to investigate if a crime is suspected. We're not at that point yet. We're at the point where a judge is reviewing to determine if a crime could have even been committed.
