Friend Carlon leaves out some key things here. The most important one being that Putin wasn't receiving any revenue from the pipelines for the simple reason he already stopped supplying gas through it. As for it providing leverage. He has tried to use it as leverage already to the point of STOPPING delivery altogether, it hasn't been successful in stopping support from the Western World for Ukraine.

In short at least in the short term Nord stream is useless to Russia atm.

He cites as his reason for claiming the US did it some interview by Biden. Assuming that Biden cryptically said that he would blow up the lines. No evidence just him interpreting Bidens words.

It is a testament to the time we live in that a large part of the Republican Party now chooses to find a reason to blame the US for things that Russia is accused of.

I will give a better reason for this act of sabotage. Equally unproven but more logical.

By blowing 3 or 4 ( ultimately repairable) holes in pipelines that don't bring in revenue for Russia at the moment. He has driven up prices of the European gas market putting strain on the economy and public opinion in Europe. Shown a willingness to escalate the conflict to what is a hair short of an act of war against Europe. By doing something both obvious and ultimately deniable. Making both his nuclear threat more believable and damaging Europe's ability to give support to Ukraine.

Its like laying seige to a city and cutting off supplies. It takes a little time for the real effects to kick in.
