I have yet to hear Biden proclaim he is a god.

Biden's Oil Deal With Venezuela Is

Worse Than You Think

2 Dec 2022 ~~ By Rick Moran

A week ago the Biden administration announced that it had approved an expansion of the license to Chevron so they could resume oil production in Venezuela.

That Biden would allow oil to flow from a socialist dictator like Nicolás Maduro isn’t shocking. The administration has made a nasty habit of dealing with dictators while leaving our friends high and dry. Such is the case with tiny Guyana, which was recently discovered to be sitting on an ocean of crude oil. One of the poorest countries in the western hemisphere, Guyana would benefit enormously from U.S. expertise and loans.
But that’s not going to happen.

Guyana oil is the future. Right now, Europe and the U.S. are facing an energy shortage this winter and Venezuela’s crude supplies are needed to prevent voters in the west from getting angry at politicians because their homes are cold and their cars won’t run for lack of gasoline. So, all of a sudden, the earth is no longer in imminent danger of burning up and Maduro’s heavy-handed oppression doesn’t look too bad.
“This Venezuelan deal, that’s a good example of the desperation that this administration is dealing with,” said Harold Hamm, the shale billionaire who founded Continental Resources and previously advised Trump on energy policy.
Hamm points to the extraordinarily short-sighted decisions of the Biden administration that virtually shut down the shale industry just as the price of fuel was skyrocketing and driving the rate of inflation.

“They know what they did. They know they took the federal lands off the table,” Hamm said. “They know better and shame on them . . . They want to put oil and gas out of business.” . . .
“You have to understand where diesel comes from, and you can’t make it out of tar,” he said, in a reference to Venezuela’s ultra-heavy bituminous oil, which needs to be blended with lighter grades and requires extensive refining. .
The decision to allow Venezuela to expand oil production is stupid, self-defeating, and dangerously naive. All are hallmarks of the Biden administration’s approach to international relations.

Commentary:
This Biden deal is going to create more problems than it solves. This sounds like a Venezuela bail out for his Commie friends.
There are only two refineries in the US that can handle the stuff: both Citgo, Lake Charles, LA and another in Corpus Christie, TX.
After the way the U.S. companies were treated in Venezuela when they communized/nationalized, I’m surprised that Chevron wants anything to do with down there.....unless it’s completely backed up by the U.S. government somehow. There’s no way a sane oil company is going to go back in there under the existing conditions.
Just in passing, what is the latest punishment for treason and when or if it will ever be administered?

Capitalism would be exploiting our on resources. Not enriching the elite in a socialist shithole.

We have been buying oil from Venezuela since 1950. Trump put sanctions on Venezuela so we started buying oil from Russia.

It's good to buy Venezuelan oil again. You can't really prosper by kicking your neighbor.

There are five refineries in the Midwest that can refine heavy sour crude.

The United States was a total petroleum net exporter in 2020 and 2021

Meaning we were energy independent during Joe Biden's first year in office despite all pearl clutching and out right lying about how great America isn't by the party of 'Benedict Donald'.

Why do they hate America so much?
In the real world Biden’s first act was to make the US dependent upon foreign oil.

We contribute to global warming by using our own oil. Global warming is reversed by using oil extracted from a third world totalitarian country.

We've always imported foreign oil from Canada, Mexico and Venezuela plus some from OPEC. When Trump decided to punish Venezuela, we bought oil from Russia.

Can you prove that factually?

Yeah. They were refitted for tarsands about 10 years ago. I don't remember their names anymore. There's also Motiva and Valero refineries. Who is Harold Hamm? He's not making much sense to me.

The US has been dependent on foreign oil since at least the 1960's.

It's a simple formula that many Neo-Republicans just don't get. Currently we use about 20 mbd in crude oil. Our domestic Oil Producers have never produced more than 13mbd. Our "Energy Independence" combines all fossil fuels we produce and export like Natural Gas and Coal. In total, we export more fossil fuels than we consume.

President Biden didn't reduce US oil production. Covid and the free market did that before Joe took office.

Actually it goes back further then that, FDR entered into a Deal with SA well before the 60s.

"He who controls the spice controls the universe", ops did I say spice again?

US consumer demands rose in the 50's and finally over took domestic supply (production) in the late 1950's. You are correct, they knew how valuable a commodity oil was and how essential it was to the war economy.
