The US hasn’t been energy independent in a very long time. But, a step in the right direction is pushing policies that influence lower gas prices as opposed to higher gas prices. Democrat Presidents and Congressional leaders are at the mercy of their extreme Leftist masters to push higher regulations on domestic oil companies and limit drilling in the US.
The numbers speak for themselves: Average price of gas per administration term is lower under Republicans.
That doesn't have anything to do with energy independence.

But as the vaccines came online, and the country prepared to go back to work,
Trump signed a "poison pill" deal with OPEC to keep worldwide production low, in order for US oil companies to profit from increased demand, and on December 4th, 2020, after he KNEW he had lost the election, Trump screwed over the American people with a deal that lead to world wide prices soaring and $5 a gallon gas.

The deal will reduce output by 9.7 million barrels a day. While significant, the cut falls far short of what is needed to bring oil production in line with demand.
Trump fucked over the American people and Joe Biden got the blame. But Biden had a plan of his own, and Biden turned the table on OPEC, and put billions of dollars into the USA Treasury. Biden sold off the US National Reserve at top dollar prices, and then replaced the oil when prices dropped. The result was billions in profit for the national treasury.
When even Rupert Murdoch is praising the genius of Biden's oil policies, you KNOW it killed him to publish that.

Your chart does not show what your post is saying. Your chart shows prices coming DOWN under Obama and Biden, and going UP under Bush and Trump.
The price of gasoline DOUBLED when W was President, from when he was inaugurated. The price rose under Trump and only came back down again when the pandemic hit.
And then Trump signed that "poison pill" deal with OPEC to screw Joe Biden, and Biden has now got the price back down again too.
You put up this chart without the first clue as to what it said about Democrats and gas prices. There is nothing completely out of their depth in economics that a Trump voter.

Energy independence is when the US is not dependent on foreign oil. Easing restrictions and regulations on domestic oil companies and drilling plus an accelerated path towards alternative energy is how we get to energy independence.
You people tout immature alternative energy and punish and restrict domestic oil which means we aren’t getting to energy independence anytime soon.

Take all of the prices per term and get an average price per term and you will see that average gas prices under Republicans are lower than Democrats. Why is that?

Biden poisoned his own energy policy when he signed executive orders putting restrictions on domestic oil companies. Trying to blame Biden’s spike in gas prices on Trump and your fantasy poison pill is beyond pathetic but it is indicative that Democrats don’t have the means or ability to get US energy independent.

No he didn't. There restrictions he put on domestic leases was the same one that helped Obama increase drilling.
Obama cancelled leases if drilling didn't take place within 5 years. Nobody is getting any oil unless exploration takes place. You buy a lease, you drill within 5 years, or they'll sell it to someone else who will.
Your own chart showed that under Joe Biden, the USA is producing more oil than at any time in it's history.

Democrats are NOT punishing or preventing domestic drilling. This is what we talk about when we speak of anti-American propaganda. Trump wasted no time in taking credit for the success of Obama's policies, and to place the blame for the failure of his policies on Joe Biden.
The shut down of the Keystone Pipeline, had no impact whatsoever on US production or supply.
Given that Obama and Biden have been the most successful Presidents in history in terms of increasing energy production in the USA, it's really an indictment of your right wing media, that so many people believe their lies. And Biden's success as an oil broker for the people is utterly ignored.
Trump's production cuts only benefitted Big Oil, and harmed the American economy as a whole. Both the USA and the rest of the first world were harmed by his wrong headed decisions.
Imagine a senile old vegetable like Biden outsmarting OPEC+, which includes Vladimir Putin, again, and making billions for the nation as a result. That's the very definition of putting America First!!!

How and why is this the case? It was major infrastructure for North America to bring more oil to the global market. The Democrats killed that.
