Actually he didn’t take responsibility for the fiasco. He claimed that he takes responsibility for withdrawing forces from Afghanistan. No one is taking exception with that. They are criticizing the grabastic way it’s being done.

IF Harris/Biden are taking responsibility, why are they in hiding and won't even guarantee that they will get all the Americans out of Afghanistan.

How do you know that President Trump negotiated a bad deal? President Harris/Biden, like everything else, tossed that plan and substituted their own.

By "we" he meant the USA guv'mint, which did it's short term view then, as often done before and since. Once the Russians were leaving, so did USA interest in Afghanistan go, leaving a void to be filled by the ISI's 'Taliban' as mentioned in my earlier posts here.

That was 30+ years ago, nearly 40 years ago if we consider when Wilson and Avrokatos took interest and began their own efforts to expand USA and West involvement.

Interestingly, most wags on this situation haven't done/learned their history nor gotten a fuller grasp on the situation. Biden especially when he only mentions the post 9/11/2001 developments and not the further history before that.

It was Clinton admin botching of dealing with Osama bin Laden and Al Qaeda, which had OSL&AQ offered shelter in then Taliban controlled Afghanistan back in late 1990s, which lead to USA and Western Allies going into Afghan to chase them down; only as we found out, they fled to sanctuary in Pakistan, in the region were the ISI surrogates' Taliban had strength and depth.

It's frustrating to see so many thrash about in half ignorance and full arrogance on the subject, failing to see how the pieces fit to have gotten to this point.

Keep making the same errors one should learn from history and it will repeat itself.
