Biden spews this lie constantly that he has lowered the deficit by $1.7 trillion. He has not. In fact, his spending has increased the debt by $850 billion more than expected.

Can't wait for the spin on this one....

President Biden is off to repeating – once again – what has been labeled a "highly misleading" claim about the federal budget deficit.

During a Thursday speech in West Columbia, South Carolina touting what he says is the success of his administration's economic policies, Biden claimed he had reduced the federal government's budget deficit by $1.7 trillion since taking office in January 2021.

"And by the way, parenthetically, I want you to hear about the deficit. I cut the deficit $1.7 trillion in two years. Nobody's ever done that – cut the debt $1.7 [trillion]," Biden told the crowd gathered at manufacturing company Flex LTD.

Biden has made the same claim on numerous occasions and, in April, earned a "Bottomless Pinocchio" rating for it from The Washington Post's liberal chief fact-checker, Glenn Kessler.

Kessler, who called the claim "highly misleading," previously gave Biden "three Pinocchios" when he made a different version of the claim in September of last year.

"He keeps saying it over and over," Kessler wrote in April. "By our count, at least 30 times since June he’s taken credit for reducing the budget deficit by $1.7 trillion."

Kessler wrote that the additional pandemic relief funds enacted by Biden, as well as other new policies, caused a "more modest decline in the deficit" than was projected for 2021 and 2022.

"All told, in those two years Biden increased the national debt about $850 billion more than originally projected," he said.

"In other words, again the data shows the deficit picture has worsened under Biden," he added.

They need to differentiate between debt and deficit. He's not cut the debt at all, and never will.
They threw in debt to show his massive spending has added more to the debt than projected, which means he has actually run bigger deficits than we would have had without his added spending.

In short, he is a lying sack. But his Cult followers buy anything he says and clap like trained seals.

Biden cultists will still believe every word.

What liars the Neo-GOP are. Either that or they just don't know the difference between a yearly deficit and our accumulated debt.

Trump had the third-biggest primary deficit growth, 5.2% of GDP, behind only George W. Bush (11.7%) and Abraham Lincoln (9.4%). Bush, of course, not only passed a big tax cut, as Trump has, but also launched two wars, which greatly inflated the defense budget. Lincoln had to pay for the Civil War. By contrast, Trump’s wars have been almost entirely of the political variety.

Bankruptcy filings in the U.S. jumped markedly in the first six months of 2023 compared to the same period last year according to data released this week by Epiq Bankruptcy.

The firm reported commercial Chapter 11 "reorganization" bankruptcies surged 68%, with filings for small businesses climbing by 55%. Chapter 13 filings that allow individuals to repay a portion of their debts jumped by 23% in the first half of the year.

"The first six months of 2023 saw a nearly 70 percent increase of total commercial Chapter 11 bankruptcies," said Gregg Morin, Vice President of Business Development and Revenue at Epiq Bankruptcy. "This trend points to the economic trials businesses are facing right now, which are impacted by rising interest rates, inflation, and increased borrowing costs, to name a few."

Bankruptcy experts say myriad factors have contributed to the increase in Americans and businesses being pushed to the point of insolvency.

AMERICANS' ‘EXCESS’ PANDEMIC SAVINGS NOW DEPLETED, FED RESEARCH FINDS

"This past year, rising inflation, higher interest rates and the conclusion of government stimulus programs have put significant strain on U.S. consumers," said Amy Quackenboss, executive director of the American Bankruptcy Institute.

Quackenboss noted consumer credit card debt is at historically high levels as individuals and families struggle to pay for the higher cost of necessary household goods and services. She told FOX Business "some are facing foreclosure on their homes because the cost of refinancing is prohibitive due to rising interest rates."

Kevin Carey, ABI’s immediate past president, pointed to rising mortgage rates as another possible contributing factor to the rise in bankruptcies. He explained that Chapter 13 bankruptcies typically involve consumers who have defaulted on their mortgage payments and are trying to stop the foreclosure process by restructuring their debt with the lender.

Learn the difference between the deficit and the debt and get back to me.

I love it how you hard core Trumpyfans no longer even try to defend his sorry butt, but just whine whenever facts of what he did as president are brought up.

Lying sacks of shit always love other lying sacks of shit.
Where were you Trump asslickers when the orange shitface blew up the defecit? Your ranting & raving about Biden is really something to behold.

The better question is, why can't the usual suspects (you know who you are) ever simply discuss what Quid Pro is or is not doing without resorting inevitably to TRUMP!? It's like they can't defend him on his own merits, or something.

What "quid pro"? The one in your imagination means nothing.
