Shooter is reportedly "contained." That prolly means he be dead.

Good riddance if true.

"Las Vegas Metro Police are responding to reports of a shooting with multiple victims on the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, campus, near Beam Hall, according to a social media post.

“There appears to be multiple victims at this time. Please avoid the area and we will have more information soon,” police said on X.

At 11:54 a.m. local time, the university posted an emergency notice online, saying, “University Police responding to report of shots fire in BEH evacuate to a safe area, RUN-HIDE-FIGHT.”

Shortly after, the university also said on X police were responding to “additional report of shots fired in the Student Union,” and advised people to evacuate the area.

A secretary in the university’s medical school told CNN they have been asked to shelter in place.

Why didn't anyone shoot back?

Oh.
Wait.
Gun-free zone.

Per NRS 202.265, the following are prohibited on university property:
  • Projectile weapons
  • Bladed weapons greater than three inches in length

Nothing to see here, move along.

Does anyone actually pay attention to those "no weapons" signs on the doors? :laughing0301:

Victims were taken to local hospital(s). They say the cops were very efficient considering the horror people in the area of the shooter experienced. The police are not giving a number of victims, and who survived and who may not have. It would be good if there were injuries but no fatalities. I'm seeing a lot of flasher lights on what seem to be ambulances, and flashing lights on parked police cars. They're just not talking until they have their apples in a row, I guess.

I have a friend who is there. He's been posting videos up on Instagram. No more information than what's in the news, though, just videos of the cops everywhere and everything close off.

Another disgruntled Boomer throwing a tantrum.

Some just make a stink at Applebee's; this guy went on a shooting rampage.

Hundreds of millions of boomers never went around shooting people like a mad dog.

LAS VEGAS, Nev. -- The man suspected of opening fire at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas on Wednesday,
killing three people and wounding a fourth, has been identified as 67-year-old Anthony Polito, law enforcement
sources tell ABC News.
Polito is described as a college professor who previously worked in North Carolina and Georgia,
and had sought a job at UNLV. He apparently did not succeed in that effort.
Campus police detectives confronted the gunman within minutes of gunfire ringing out on campus
Wednesday. He was killed at the scene.
He was armed with a handgun.

Anthony Polito, 67, has been identified as the gunman who was killed by officers
after fatally shooting three people on the UNLV campus on Dec. 6, 2023.

Investigators are searching an apartment in Henderson, Nev. believed to be Polito's home, ABC News reports. They have also obtained his phone and are searching it for evidence as to his motive for the shooting. They also searching through his professional writings for possible clues.

Authorities have determined that the victims who were killed in the shooting were faculty or staff, not students. That suggests the attack was not entirely random, but it's not clear yet if he knew the particular individuals.

The investigation at this time indicates he fired first on police before they shot and killed him.

Polito maintained a LinkedIn page and a personal website. On the website, he published a 15-page document on the Zodiac Killer, claiming to have decoded some of the cryptic messages from the killer who operated in Northern California in the late 1960s.

He also indicates a fondness for Las Vegas, having made some two dozen trips there in the last 15 years and providing numerous links to articles and travel guides on the city.

I read somewhere that another victim is in intensive care in a LV hospital. Hope they survive with health restored. My daughter was a cop in Las Vegas until she retired.

So we are going to find out two things about this shooter.

1) Everyone in his life knew he was nuts.
2) He had no problem getting a gun.

1. hindsight is always 20/20
2. If he had not broken any laws he should not
