I think better educated kids will be happier kids less likely to kill each other.

Books on deviant sexual behavior--or any sexual behavior for that matter have no place in the school system. Biology books that deal with sexual behavior should be in biology classes. Not making these books available in schools is not banning them. They can still be found in public libraries for those that choose to read them.

And how will the parents know what potentially dangerous books are available to their children in the school's library?

It's not quite as simple as "The parents should decide". Books are constantly coming in and going out of libraries so who's going to keep up with that? The school would constantly have to send memos to all the parents any time new stuff comes in and I doubt they would do that. And it would be a bit much to expect the parents to keep up with all the books going in or out.

The safest and most common sense course of action would be to simply not accept certain books.
