Zone1 Banning books is wrong

There are no book bans in the US

All schools control their curriculum and decide which books to include and which ones not to include. Typically that is not even decided by the school but by administrators and politicians.

Those books are still available elsewhere to the general public.

Wehave seen no such hatred you have imagined it
If that is how you deal with it OK. You obviously cant cope with it.

A craze that seems to have run its course.
It seems to be less popular than it was lasst year. Maybe everything has been banned.
Im going to put forward an unpopular viewpoint.
I agree with the first amendment.
Thats one of the more unpopular parts of the US constitution.
I dont believe in banning books. I dont believe in banning ideas that I dont like.
Thats a bit unfashionable these days.
Nobody ever told me what I could or couldnt read.
I think reading stuff makes you a more balanced adult. Better educated.
Many of the book bans centred on Gay topics.
I think they should be available to youngsters.
Firstly they would help teens growing up and struggling with it.
Secondly it would combat the hate that we see on these boards which is a stain on america.
Much of that uses a faux religous cober for outright prejudice.
I think better educated kids will be happier kids less likely to kill each other.
Of course there needs to be some streaming of titles. Some books would be wasted on kids if they are too young to appreciate them. But not banned by zealots.

nicely put, but all wrong nonetheless.
freedom of speech is good in theory, but in prolonged practice leads to extremist views expressed as normal behavior to the young (among it's many good products of course), possibly under the banner of religion or spirituality even.
not to say that the kids could go entirely without education into LGBTQ+ lifestyles, but ffs let it wait until they're about 14, and do force all teachers to preach to kids that they should discuss sexuality in private with their friends and family but only for so much as each of them can handle it.

and let's ban the violence-promoting religious texts entirely, in every religion.

find the publishers, journalists, columnists, commenters of every political group on the planet (LGBTQ+ is 1 such group by now, with "tentacles" reaching into music and media production, mass media news anchors and execs, etc, even politicians),
and restrict their freedom of speech (in every constitution, please), to non-extremist and non-violent views.
you should see a massive improvement in the peacefulness of any country that does this and keeps it going for more than 100 years.

Why are “books” so exalted? We have the printing press. We have mass reproduction of information. Books are “recycled” everyday and no one cares. “Burn” them and watch out.
Because books equal learning. A source of information.

Because books equal learning.
Or help to balance a warped table leg.
A source of information.
Or disinformation. It can go both ways.
My fundamental look at it is the same: If you purchase a book you can do what you want with it. Same with flags Wave it, toss it, burn it. If you own it it's no one else's business what you do with it.

I know what you mean. Song of the South is banned in this country. Why do you suppose that is?

Tommy: "Um, er. I wasn't talking about stuff banned by the left."

Glad you feel that way. You seem to be a right decent bloke.

BTW, you should definitely read "Mein Kampf." It's about a struggling artist in 1930's Germany, seeking to make an impression on the world. The book is rather long, but you living in the UK and spending so much time on here, I'm sure you have plenty of time to fit this in.

You might even find a kindred spirit in the writings of the amazing author of this book, and get some insight into who you really are, deep down inside. You can get the book for £7.99 from the site I posted below and once you've read it, you'll be amazed at how much you have in common with the author.

Happy reading!

Why is an unpopular part of the U.S. Constitution putting forth an unfavorable opinion? That's what makes the First Amendment beautiful -- a position your shithole of a country doesn't have.

Dare you share an unpopular opinion on Facebook about shitty "palestinians" and see what happens.
