Yeah right. An article from 1979 when the actual repression of the Shah was not a old memory, just an excerpt.

Our history books were full of lies about the glories of the Iranian dynasties, and they encouraged racism towards non-Persian-speaking minorities in Iran as well as nearby nations. A special military guard was stationed on most large university campuses to mute student opposition. The number of students tortured, lost or murdered is unkown. Yet the universities remained a bulwark of opposition to the Shah and his cultural agression.

The national minorities in Iran have fared even worse. Millions of Kurds, Turks, Arabs, Baloochis and Turkamans were deprived of the right to learn in their mother tongues, and no cultural expression or publication was allowed in their languages.

If life was so terrible under the Shah, perhaps you can come up with a good explanation as to why thousands and thousands of Iranians weren't anxious to get out of Iran as they were when the crazies took over. Why do the Iranians in the Los Angeles area say they miss the Shah and the life they had over there? I don't think you are aware of the very huge Iranian population here in Southern California who ran when the crazies took over. When people climb over mountains to get out, they certainly are desperate. In fact, why not tell us why they are still coming out? After all, life is so very good under the crazies, isn't it?
