Yes. Some kids have valid issues we need to address. Many students are funneled into gen ed classrooms and have NO business being there.
that went from 'some' to the majority of kids Sue

the mental health community is the fastest growing faction of health care in this country.

right along with an epidemic of mental health related issues throughout this country , most of which are doped up on the pharma garbage they push

they've been no help to your profession, stats prove that out

they've NO biz in any classroom.....

Do yer own homework, Sue. ;)

I did. For example, the average babysitter in the US gets $25/hour, where as the average beginning TEACHER gets $30/hour. Babysitter: keep 2-4 kids alive.

Teacher: instruct 20-30 kids ALL day long and teach them to read, write, spell, do math, and occasionally potty train them.

They can always quit teaching and spare themselves the misery. Oh wait! Many are. :omg:

Play the hand you're dealt, or fold.

I pay me and wife. Alabama.

This is employer plan with cost share.

Sorry for the delay, I had to get on an actual computer and I said I'd get back.

First of all Alabama is ranked 47th (lower) compared to Virginia 13th (higher). So cost of living in Virginia is higher than Alabama.

You say you pay $850 per month with employer cost share for Employee + Spouse, but didn't give the split percentage (which I asked for). So let's assume that we split the difference on average cost share based on national number (70-80%) and go with 75% as the employer share and you pay 25% as the employee. We'll also assume for comparison that you have all the bells and whistles (Gold Level Medical + Dental + Vision) in a PPO plan.

That means the total Premium is $3400 per month split between $850 you pay and $2550 paid by the employer.

Our similar plan runs $1145 a month and that is split 70% employer Paid and 30% employee paid.

Annualized that means our plan costs $13,740 a year for a Gold level Employee + Spouse plan and you say your plan costs $40,800 a year in a state that has a significantly lower cost of living.

Something isn't jiving. So there are a few possibilities:
  • The original number cited was a typo (it happens)
  • The original number citied wasn't a typo and you misremembered (it happens)
  • The employer "share" is way outside the national average (meaning you are paying a significantly higher percentage of the total premium)
  • Or if we were to rate plans as Gold, Silver, and Bronze you have an executive level Platinum plan that covers everything including wiping your ass after a stool sample. (<<-- the last part is intended to be humorous for those not aware).
Since you are in a lower cost of living state and your insurance is costing you (as part of your compensation) 3 times as much as plans in a higher cost of living state I'd suggest. Find out why your employer group plan is so expensive, why the employer is picking up such a low share (resulting in your portion being so high), or move to Virginia - We're hiring. You might also look into getting an outside plan on the individual market and not enroll in your employer plan. [DISCLAIMER: This is not benefit advice, you would need to research and make your own decision.]

Leftist tend to want to be teachers. So they can push agendas on kids.

So they tend to fill more spots than conservatives.

So yes we need to replace them. Good point

Red vs Blue Counties

Why would those Red Counties elect liberal Boards of Education?

The american way now is " please work hard", for less. Or a better one is "hey $25 per hour is a fine wage". It's unreal that people subscribe to that stuff. "Can you believe that high school kids is making $15 per hour? That's way too much". That's another funny one. Where does this backwards thinking come from?
