College students overestimate starting salaries by $24,000

Most parents today would be okay with it. As long as the kid is working and helping out around the house then it's a win win for the nation
They can hang out as long as they either,

1. Pay for their college or trade school.
2. Save the downpayment on a house (parent should manage that account).

Agreed. Imagine working, saving, getting educated, and having a decent nest egg by age 30 without crazy debt or a spouse. Then it's time to move out. Where's the negative here?

If they marry that might throw a wrench in the cogs.
 
First year for me was 1980. I remember it was like $6,500. But that was tuition, books, supplies, dorm room, and meal plan that sucked.
$0 for me. I still worked 3 jobs and trained at least 8 hours a day.
