At The Gun Range

Took my son's TA to the range a couple summers ago, - 90lb kid from mainland China.
He was geeked about being able to shoot, to the point where I made my son follow him around to make sure he didn't run out in front of the firing line or some other stupid thing.

I lined him up with my M1A; he was in shock after the 1st round. Fired the next 4 with his eves closed,
My dad loves target shooting. Just no buddies to go with. Now that he's moved a LOT closer to me....we go often and my wife was a competition trap shooter. My dad is loving it.
Nobody claims to be a great marksman which helps with being embarrassed about performance. The only thing we claim that we do well is gun safety.

I'm not a great marksman. My groupings are not grouped. Neither are my dad's. But we go and have a good time trying. And THAT is worth everything to me.

I’m too busy building and procuring parts & Spares , but will go one day to the BLM open free outdoor shooting area ( Keswick / Iron Mountain ) near my home to test some of the builds .

I'm here now 14Shooter! All the trolling for attention is a waste of time if nobody pays attention.

Nobody is safe in America without a gun.

100 rounds through a handgun is an ordinary day at the range. Hardly a cause for celebration.

Yeah, when we go, it's at least 3,000 rounds being expended.

And not much of that is .22 either.

How much 8 mm or 7.62x51. ??
Depends on if we bring the machine guns out. My MG42 goes through the 8mm very fast!

My buddy has a real nice M60 so he is in charge of the 7.62.

Where big munitions and equipment can take ground....it's people with small arms that hold it....maybe.
When they are outnumbered by an armed population the ground takers can't hold any ground.

Everyone has to eat, sleep, and use the restroom. Fact of life. Airplanes have to land, tanks and APC need to refuel....and automatic rifles need more ammo.

And the A10 Pilots doing the Attack Runs on the outskirts of Omaha and Dallas at some point will go home to find their Homes burned to the ground and their wives & twin toddlers and Mothers in Law and dogs dead in the rubble

True. Shot placement wins over spray and pray any day.
Normally go clay shooting, only done pheasant once. Target practice is air rifle, not interested in being part of a gun range, cheaper too. Do you have those exploding targets? First time I shot one, bloody jumped.

A-10s have been retired as far as I know.
A C-130 can do much the same as the A-10....and be useful for other functions.
Or even a fleet of drones for a fraction of the cost.

But they still can't hold ground. The lack of Air superiority is a part of the reason Russia never can take all of Ukraine and why the 3 day Special Military Operation has turned into years of fighting. And the same reason why Russia could never really control Afghanistan. They hated their occupation of the place too.
(Russia has always sucked at air superiority)

Air rifles are fun too. Not really the same as a firearm but the skills are translated into Firearm shooting as far as getting a good bead on a target before discharge.

The range of accuracy on firearm rifles are much longer generally speaking.

A 30-06 for example will shoot for over a mile. Good for hunting in very mountainous regions but lousy in the foothills of Appalachians or in flat areas like Kentucky or Oklahoma where people complain about bullet holes in horse trailers, barn roofs, and campers. (Always one idiot in a crowd)

I think the Brits have a weapon that can take a whole fleet of drones down.
Yeah....a trebuchet filled with Muslim men. They have a surplus of them.

Load them up and fire them off into the sky....they will grab anything to keep from falling.

We had a skeet shooting party once. I couldn't hit shit, never did it again. :( My favorite is shooting my .22 from a bench. Cheap, no recoiled, little noise.

Ruger 1022.webp

EW is advancing....but like the article states...."no target discrimination" and "wide signals"
Meaning it can damage a lot of things unintentionally and you cannot communicate when it's active.

There's some new stuff coming down the pike for EW that will jam the enemies stuff effectively but not our own. Then there's the autonomous drones networked and self flying....target discriminating as well.

You send up a fleet of 1,000 to 10,000 of them very high....then they find the targets and send a few drones each to destroy each of the targets. No comms...just kamikaze.
