Putin is in a very precarious position, no matter what we might otherwise think or be told. Like any "Godfather", retirement is,..how to put it...not normally easy nor painless. He is in obvious danger from any number of directions. Offering life-long security and comfort of life in America would be a workable deal for the end of hostilities and a renewed relationship with the people and essence of Russia.

The only asylum Putin needs.

I really do highly suspect that Putin is totally committed to his country and will die before he will compromise Russia's ongoing safety and security.

It's built into his character and was even before his KGB days.

Indeed, he never would have been considered for a high office in the KGB without that loyalty built in stone!

There's the other talking point that can be used as a reference as long as this thread stands.

When considering the M.A.D. factor keeping this war safe, that fact about Putin is certainly not comforting!

Not even close to realistic. No way in hell would we ever make that offer and even if we did there’s no way in hell he would ever take it.

At least it's an idea you haven't seen elsewhere. Stranger things have happened in history.

Every day this looks like a better solution. If he can't get out of the position he has put himself in, the danger is almost infinite. A safe welcome in a secure country might get him to leave with the least damage.
