Are robot fast food joints the result of Californias 20$ an hour minimum wage?

That 20 dollars an hour is just the base salary that the employ takes home less taxes, while all the additional benefits the consumer never sees. So really someone in Californication makes total 35 dollars per hour worked which is why Californication is going robotic. In 10 years those Robots wont be striking for better wages or eating the business out of business...

Even at base 20 dollars people don't consider what an employee really costs.

Employers have to pay for their vacation days, pay into health benefits, insurance policies on the establishment for employees, pay into workmans comp, etc. even down to everytime an employee takes a shit they have to pay for water to flush the toilet, soap to wash their hands, water to wash their hands and paper towel to dry them.

Robots cost none of those things. Just maintenance and repair. They also don't take breaks or stop working to send a text.

I think California is going to see a lot more automation in the fast food industry over the next year when companies look at employees costs.

Fast food is not a career to support your family on by running a fryalator. It's for kids, handicapped people and the elderly that get bored.

Oh, i didnt know you were saying that drought isnt the same as waters shortages.

Down here if Florida if they say that there is a water shortage, we are in drought conditions. We dont play with words, i guess it confuses too many stupid democrats that way.
There are a lot of angry people here.
Yes, Drought and water shortage are 2 separate things. The drought in California has ended, but the water shortage still exist in the southern portion of the state. That region is heavenly dependent on water from the Colorado river. California has been exceeding their rightful shares from the river for years, and as everybody in the Colorado River basin knows, the river is over allocated. It is big news in this part of the country. Probably not so much in Florida, understandably.

Almond growing needs to stop.

America isn't viable without illegal immigrants.

California's higher standard of living will result in big problems such as this coming to Cal first.

As has been tradition in America for decades, nothing will be done to upset the border situation that ensures Americans can eat. (hamburgers mostly)
California has always had a hell of a lot of illegals.....long before all this shit happening....

Fast food places don't need kids or elderly workers.

Technology is a key for automated service, I am also sure that increasing wages are driving the industry to find automated services to reduce expenses.

Companies are out for a profit and if those automated services cost less than an employee then they will replace the employee. The rising costs of employees wages is a factor, no other reason to have the machines.

They aren’t going to put in machines if is is going to cost a company more. Bottom line is saving money, increasing profit.

I saw this fast food place talking about it's robot staff.

He claims it's because of dangerous jobs like using the grill and fryer, but in the video also says he can't find employees.

Personally I'd wager it's due to the minimum wage hike for fast food workers. Anyone that runs a business knows employees are your biggest expense.

Sure those robots aren't cheap, but at not paying 20 dollars an hour how long before you make up the difference?

At what wage do you think it will take to preclude future replacements of these robotics?

There should be serious talk coming soon about a minimum wage for robots.

Hey. Robots have rights, too.
Come on that’s absurd. But business do need to make sure they install a certain percentage of black robots instead of just being racist and installing all white ones. It’s also important for business owners to make sure they refer to those robots by their preferred pronoun. Referring to a robot that wishes to be called an autonomous cyber unit should be a hate crime. Virtual DEI is important you know,

It’s not absurd.

SCOTUS Justice Douglas once sought to give “standing to sue” to trees. True story.

Others have argued to grant personhood standing to some endangered animals.

It’s just a matter of time before some dipshit is going to seriously argue for “standing” for robots — especially for machines with AI.

The issue of robot race may not be that far off. Lil im.2 will surely be in the vanguard of that movement.

BRM will be the new money making scheme

Your opinion of our situation is worthless

So again you admit you Democrats love slave labor.

  • Over 50 percent of workers experienced health and safety hazards on the job, resulting in 43 percent being injured on the job, from hot oil burns, to cuts and wounds after lifting and/or carrying items while at work.
  • Over 50 percent of employees experienced hostility when interacting with restaurant customers or co-workers over safety protocols, including being assaulted, threatened, or yelled at.

Now the stupid want to raise the MW to $50 per hour.

No.
It has nothing to do with the hourly wage but does have to do with pure greed.
Years ago, and for several years, BK took out the grill and was microwaving precooked burgers. The burgers could have been replaced with wet paper towels. Had nothing to do with wages and ended up costing them market share.

Under capitalism quality and customer service are subservient to the bottom line.
They'd be doing this anyway.
