Botom line is if a corporation cannot "afford" to pay a living wage it should cease to exist.
Question for you PoliChica...instead of Pizza Hut laying off 1,200 employees rather than pay a living wage would it have been at all possible for the corporation's CEO's and board of directors to accept a negligible cut in cash flow to offset the increased wage of their employees?
The only answer is "certainly."
So your own example here does not in fact illustrate any "evil" inherent in "Socialism," but is more about the toxic greed of Capitalism.
