Less than we had? Are you daft? That is only true if you look strictly at the number of suicides as a standalone number.

In the US, the suicide rate is 13.26 per 100,000 population. In Japan it is 26 per 100,000.

And your claims to cultural differences is a moot point. Unless you are going to look at cultural differences between the US and other countries when discussing gun violence, you don't get to do so in this case.

If the NRA were the problem, the murder rates would have been soaring, or at least increasing. But they have been dropping steadily since the 1970s.

100,000 private citizens own over 300,000 firearms in the US. There are 9,500 gun murders per year. Most of those murders committed by people with felony records. In other words, they can't legally own a gun.
