Different conditions require different dosages of hydroxychloroquine. It is possible that the amount needed to treat Covid effectively is such a high dose that it ups the known risk of heart attack. In other words, it might not be a good application of the drug. THAT IS WHY THEY DO THE STUDIES FIRST.

If Trump were just being "hopeful," I would agree. He PUSHED and PUSHED and PUSHED, though, made claims it was a "miracle cure." (1) there is no "cure," only treatment. (2) we didn't KNOW that, yet.

Yes, a lot of physicians have prescribed it and it has worked well in combination with an antibiotic in pushing the virus out of the system, at least according to some results. It has to be caught at the very beginning, though, and they're still trying to find a safe AND effective dosage.

And actual DOCTORS - not the President or politicians - prescribe and administer the drug to their patients they treat as they have for decades for other known illnesses. If a situation / complication arises during treatment the doctors - not the President or politicians - will be the 1st know and be able to deal with it.

This is an approved drug already being used. The primary issue with using it for COVID-19 is that it was President Trump who advocated allowing doctors to use it. this whole thing has actually, in many minds, has validated the thought 1st used as a JOKE -- -the idea that Liberals would attack the President and refuse to use the cure if President Trump some how came up with a cure for Cancer.
