“We were looking at these documents going, these aren’t all the ‘Epstein Files.’ You know, they’re flight logs. They were names and victims’ names. And we’re going, where’s the rest of the stuff?” Bondi explained to Fox News’ Sean Hannity during an appearance on the news channel back in March. In a separate Feb. 21 interview on Fox News with host John Roberts Bondi was asked directly about the client list and responded, “It’s sitting on my desk right now to review.”

The newly-released messages reinforce claims by whistleblower Erez Reuveni that Bove played a key role in a decision by Trump administration immigration officials to turn scores of Venezuelan immigrants over to El Salvador’s government despite a U.S. judge’s order not to do so.

The messages show increasing alarm among Justice Department lawyers that the administration had in fact defied court orders and that some officials — including a prominent DOJ lawyer brought on by the Trump administration — could face sanctions for misleading the courts.

Bove has said that he never advised anyone to violate court orders. DOJ and the Department of Homeland Security did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

All Democrats, barring Booker, left the hearing room during the votes to advance Bove and other nominees pending before the committee.

“This lacks decency. It lacks decorum. It shows that you do not want to simply hear from your colleagues,” Booker said. “This is us simply trying to rush through one of the most controversial nominees we’ve had under this presidential administration.”
