My observation was that he allowed the vituperation to simply wash off him like water off a duck's back....as though he simply assumed he'd get the nomination.

I haven't reviewed this budget but every President in my lifetime, including the great Ronald Reagan, has increased the size of the Federal government.
The best we get out of Republicans is that reduce the rate of growth but nobody has ever actually spent less in one year than they did the previous year.
Cumulative debt has always increased from one administration to another.
When this budget becomes finalized then we will see if it is a real cutback or just a cutback in the rate of growth.
I support budgets like Ron Paul's idea in 2012 where he came up with a very reasonable plan to reduce the Federal budget a trillion a year. That is what I would like to see Trump propose to Congress. That would earn my vote.
