Gun deaths are deaths, you can compare countries on deaths. With crime that does not involve death, does any country have exactly the same laws, the same definitions, the same reporting procedures etc.. Even between European member states, laws and definitions differ. Some countries class certain acts as crime, other consider it as a civil matters. So for example in the UK, the police won't turn up to someone trespassing because it's a civil matter, not a criminal matter, some other countries will log it as a crime.

You can breakdown populations to per capita, per 100,000 people to compare gun deaths. In the case of America it's too many unsuitables with guns, and a dreadful gun mentality.

Most also don't keep statistics at all, but we know they're heavily armed and run by gangs, tribes, and criminal clans. The U.S. does keep relatively accurate stats, and and it;s fact that legal gun owners aren't the problem, it's minority cultures that glorify their gangsters and illegal weapons.
