My biggest question is how much time transpired from the time Baldwin took possession of the weapon until the time he fired the weapon? Could he have loaded the weapon?

Standard blank...notice lack of projectile...and color...these are generally green (some red)...some have a pinched head...but no projectile

Ok.

Clearing

Remove magazine
Pull slide back and lock into position
visually verify chamber is clear of rounds, and ALL obstructions

5 seconds tops

Caveat.

Now...if there was a live round buried deep in the magazine and he was blazing away...then sure I can see where an accident can happen.

Though I can almost guarantee you that wasn't the case.

Verify clear

Verify clear
I can only see one flaw in your analysis. The subject gun is a revolver.

Let us guess: these would be conservatives who have an unwarranted hatred for Baldwin because he’s a ‘liberal’ – and in particular Baldwin’s spot-on impressions of Trump on SNL.

The fact is Baldwin was in no need of ‘vindication.’
No vindication is possible for this commie idiot or his followers.
Are you stupid enough to take a gun someone hands you and point and pull the trigger at someone without checking the cylinder and barrel??

My description was for a semi auto.

However, verifying breach/chamber and barrel clearance is standard for ALL weapons.
Perhaps you should give your most excellent instructions for a revolver.

It's not a good day to be an Alec Baldwin hater.
Police said the movie director who handed him the prop gun told him it had no bullets in it.
Please no police bashing in this thread. Thank you.
"Alec Baldwin was handed what was described as a safe "cold gun" on the set of his movie "Rust", but the prop gun contained live rounds when it was fired, according to details of the police investigation into the fatal shooting released on Friday."
This is the official apology thread to those who bashed Alec Baldwin.
No apologies, butt hole!
There is a chain of custody on guns used during filming and Baldwin is an essential link in that chain.
It was incumbent on Baldwin to check the gun he was going to fire.
No dice!

Alec isn't exactly off the hook...he was a producer...aka management.

Apparently over 500 rounds of live ammunition was removed from the set because some of the crew were having target practice despite the rule of no live ammunition on set. Apparently the knowledge of the target practice was well known. As the safety rule about "no live ammunition on set" was ignored by everyone including management (Alec himself) he might have some culpability in the outcome. Though not directly.

The trump people will never apologize for anything.

They can say and do the most abhorrent things but will never apologize.

Ever.

The investigation into this has always been an accidental shooting.

Not a criminal one.

It's a crime to point a loaded gun at someone and pull the trigger. I don't care what the fuck someone told you about the fucking gun you stupid fucking liberal. The gun is in your hands its YOUR job to ensure it's safe and YOU and YOU ALONE are responsible for where it is pointed at all times when it is in your hands.

Part of clearing a weapon is examining the chamber of the weapon.

All weapons have a chamber, and barrel.
How do you see the difference between a live round and a black (in a revolver) unless you unload the weapon or point it at your face?

You don't

500 rounds of a mix of blank, dummy, and live rounds.

How many were actually live rounds was not stated

If it was more than zero then it shows negligence. Multiple actors have stated that there is NO reason for live rounds to be around real guns on a movie set. Absolutely none.

Absolutely!
Of course it's in New Mexico where everyone would be armed except for them....
But on the set safety protocols should have been adhered to. And when they were so blatantly ignored and knowingly ignored that's criminal negligence.

He’ll likely not sleep well for a very long time.

But that has nothing to do with the fact that Baldwin did nothing ‘wrong,’ as the dishonest right has tried to claim.
Sure he did dummy. He shot and killed a woman and wounded another person.

Rounds where the bullet is visible are supposed to have the primer and powder both removed.... you can't see the primer from the muzzle end...
The director calls "cut" and the gun is swapped out for one with blanks. (Also why 0.22 aren't used...primer is built into the shell)

This is why live rounds are not allowed on set. Too easy to mix them up. (And a likely scenario of what happened)

And because everyone knew live rounds were on set everyone in management is culpable... meaning directors. (Including the one shot)

It was BRANDON LEE who died by on set firearms accident, not Bruce Lee his already dead father.
In Brandon’s case autopsy confirmed an actual live round bullet was in his body and caused his death. Somebody loaded the gun with a live round.
It was a blank...but there was a bullet stuck in the barrel.
