It's not a good day to be an Alec Baldwin hater.
Police said the movie director who handed him the prop gun told him it had no bullets in it.
Please no police bashing in this thread. Thank you.
"Alec Baldwin was handed what was described as a safe "cold gun" on the set of his movie "Rust", but the prop gun contained live rounds when it was fired, according to details of the police investigation into the fatal shooting released on Friday."
This is the official apology thread to those who bashed Alec Baldwin.

I've got a crisp, new $1 bill that says no such apologies will be forthcoming...

Any person who handles a firearm is responsible for their actions in utilizing said firearm.

Just because someone tells you that the firearm is empty doesn't relieve you of the responsibility of checking it yourself.

Someone wants to handle a working firearm they are responsible otherwise they shouldn't handle the firearm.

Actually, that's INCRIMINATING information about Baldwin, not exculpatory.

After all, if the gun was unloaded when the director handed it to Baldwin, it must have been Baldwin who loaded it.

The trump people will never apologize for anything.

They can say and do the most abhorrent things but will never apologize.

Ever.

The investigation into this has always been an accidental shooting.

Not a criminal one.

The police did their job, investigated the incident and determined Baldwin was not reckless or negligent. End of story.

He still killed someone and has to live with that along with the person who handed him an obviously loaded weapon.

Ironic that the notoriously anti gun Baldwin who made himself wealthy glorifying gun violence has killed more people than gun owners such as myself.

Never point a weapon at anyone unless you intend to use it and always assume a weapon is loaded. Twelve year olds learn this in gun safety training in flyover country.

In most movies a "prop gun" is still a real functioning firearm.

Baldwin is an uneducated idiot.

Second rule after clearing a weapon, is trigger discipline.

The LAST thing you do with a weapon is put your finger on the trigger.

If your finger is on the trigger then you intend for a round to go down range.

How did a real round get into the gun?

I know it's happened before on the set of "The Crow" movie where the star of the movie was shot dead, but it seems like a bunch of professionals would catch something like a real round.
The professional was not in attendance. Local employees rather than propmaster union.

If those rules applied to movie props no action movie would ever be produced.

Yeah, because it's completely outside the realm of possibility that the person who handed him the gun was mistaken...

Did the director say 'Action' and a scene was being filmed when the incident took place?

If so...trigger safety would not apply.

However, rule one still applies....verify clear.

It takes five seconds to verify clear on a pistol.

The Hollyweird douche nozzles are playing 'pretend' with real shit.

Looks like if a studio set is going to use a working firearm during production all employees and actors should have to take a firearm safety course and get their permit to carry card before they are allowed to start production.

And by all employees and actors I mean all.

Otherwise the set should be using fake firearms that have leaded barrels.
