  • What is I-200?
    • Passed in 1998, Initiative 200 ended affirmative action programs in Washington State. It prohibits government institutions from considering race, sex, color, ethnicity, or national origin in public employment, public education, and public contracting.
    • The goal was to create a "level playing field" where decisions would be based solely on merit, without consideration of identity factors.
    • Impact: After I-200, race-conscious policies were eliminated. Black representation in public universities, state contracts, and public employment saw declines, as systemic inequities were no longer actively addressed.
So if DEI and affirmative action don't exist in Washington State, where I've been living & working since 2001, due to them having been legislatively abolished, how could I or any other Black person have achieved ANY success, let alone as much as we have, without it being based on our own merit and ability to compete?

White working class people in Puget Sound, including at Boeing where I've contracted multiple times and the clown posse here on this board keep referring to DEI hires every time something bad happens to Boeing or one of its aircraft. But again, how is that even possible if DEI and affirmative action were abolished?

It's one thing not to man or woman up and acknowledge to yourselves that you don't quite rise to the level of the image you have of yourself and how you would like other people to see you. It's an entirely different kind of cowardice to blame others for your shortcomings.

It's his initiative to get rid of everything DEI related and for far too many white racists, DEI is a synonym for "Black People".

Which is why it was so stupid for it to have even been caught up in the culling since both groups predated DEI & affirmative action by at least 20 years.

What do you think racial discrimination & segregation under Jim Crow was all about? Laws were written that excluded Black people specifically from opportunities and other things that whites had access to. It was based on being a member of the white race, not merit. It never was.

This is also what people are referring to when they speak of white privilege, the automatic advantages gain from being born into the white race. Being white also shields many from a lot of pains of life, some natural some legislated, like slavery, Jim crow, and everything that comes with all of that.

When your state replaced raced based hiring and advancement with merit based blacks suffered

Thats unfortunate, but the solution is for blacjs to raise their rather than lowering standards
 
And what preceded it was NEVER about merit. That's why it's so stupid for the military to have reacted the way they did because the Tuskegee and WASPs accomplished what they did at least 20 years prior to DEI & affirmative action.

So what role does merit play in their achievements?

Yeah I know, but the dems lost and Jim Crow had to end. We don’t live under Jim Crow today
 
Unlike you, I am unbiased when it comes to uncovering evidence to support what our laws say and what my clients need, either exculpatory or inculpatory.

What you all seem to have forgotten is that DEI initiatives, as well as affirmative action were tools used by those in the workforce and other places to implement the laws as defined by the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

Removing DEI doesn't impact the underlying law, it just exposes you all for the racists you are. Diversity is not a bad thing unless you want an all white workforce or student body. As far as the other two elements:
  • Inequity, the opposite of 'Equity': Allowing systemic imbalances to persist, leading to unfair treatment of individuals based on race, gender, or other characteristics.
  • Exclusion, the opposite of 'Inclusion': Creating environments that intentionally or unintentionally exclude individuals or groups from opportunities, decision-making, or participation.
So after all is said and done and anti-discrimination initiatives are reimagined, but all the racists have shown their true colors, you'll probably get exactly what you want - an all white environment made up of only other white racists, because that will ultimately be the only place where your presence will be tolerated.

DEI is designed to exclude whites from jobs. It's racist.

I'm for strictly merit based hiring. I doubt you are.
