Pete Hegseth Delivers His First Message to the Military as the New U.S. Secretary of Defense

25 Jan 2025 ~~ By Jim Hoft

Pete Hegseth, a former Fox News personality and decorated Army veteran, was sworn in as the 29th U.S. Secretary of Defense on Saturday, following a narrow and contentious Senate confirmation.
The Senate vote concluded in a 50-50 tie, broken by Vice President JD Vance. Notably, three RINOs senators—Lisa Murkowski, Susan Collins, and Mitch McConnell—joined all Democrats and independents in opposing Hegseth’s nomination.
Following his confirmation, Hegseth was swiftly sworn in by Vice President Vance in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, with his wife, Jennifer Rauchet, by his side and children.

From the U.S. Department of Defense:

  • It is the privilege of a lifetime to lead the warriors of the Department of Defense, under the leadership of our Commander in Chief Donald J. Trump. We will put America First, and we will never back down.
  • The President gave us a clear mission: achieve Peace through Strength. We will do this in three ways — by restoring the warrior ethos, rebuilding our military, and reestablishing deterrence.
  • We will revive the warrior ethos and restore trust in our military. We are American warriors. We will defend our country. Our standards will be high, uncompromising, and clear. The strength of our military is our unity and our shared purpose.
  • We will rebuild our military by matching threats to capabilities. This means reviving our defense industrial base, reforming our acquisition process, passing a financial audit, and rapidly fielding emerging technologies. We will remain the strongest and most lethal force in the world.
  • We will reestablish deterrence by defending our homeland — on the ground and in the sky. We will work with allies and partners to deter aggression in the Indo-Pacific by Communist China, as well as supporting the President’s priority to end wars responsibly and reorient to key threats. We will stand by our allies — and our enemies are on notice.
  • All of this will be done with a focus on lethality, meritocracy, accountability, standards, and readiness.

Commentary:
Like previous U.S. Military ethos, the aom of the military is to be combat ready without the politics that stains our Congress.
Few remember the stories of staving and under clothed revolutionary warriors because Congress did not supply the Continental Army properly, or flashing back to present day DEI.
A warrior in charge, imagine that!? Ethos of the warfighter has a nice ring to it. Beats the Heck out of freak flags diversity hires and ideologies of politics. There's hope for us yet.
it's not a failure if you take care of your troops. Both Miley and Austin certainly failed with the Afghan abrupt withdrawal and when we lost our 13 warriors (and at least 170 Afghans) at Abbey gate! Both sure kept Raytheon, Lockheed and Boeing happy though.
Will Sec of Def Hegseth send out guidance memo to all branches of our military stating that 100 percent of the force structure must be ready to deploy within 1 month, exceptions for broken limbs and similar injuries and post partum mothers. Transfer staff and administrative personnel to bring combat units up to strength?

Secretary Hegseth's Message to the Force

Jan. 25, 2025

It is the privilege of a lifetime to lead the warriors of the Department of Defense, under the leadership of our Commander in Chief Donald J. Trump. We will put America First, and we will never back down.

The President gave us a clear mission: achieve Peace through Strength. We will do this in three ways — by restoring the warrior ethos, rebuilding our military, and reestablishing deterrence.

o We will revive the warrior ethos and restore trust in our military. We are American warriors. We will defend our country. Our standards will be high, uncompromising, and clear. The strength of our military is our unity and our shared purpose.

o We will rebuild our military by matching threats to capabilities. This means reviving our defense industrial base, reforming our acquisition process, passing a financial audit, and rapidly fielding emerging technologies. We will remain the strongest and most lethal force in the world.

o We will reestablish deterrence by defending our homeland — on the ground and in the sky. We will work with allies and partners to deter aggression in the Indo-Pacific by Communist China, as well as supporting the President's priority to end wars responsibly and reorient to key threats. We will stand by our allies — and our enemies are on notice.

All of this will be done with a focus on lethality, meritocracy, accountability, standards, and readiness.

I have committed my life to warfighters and their families. Just as my fellow soldiers had my back on the battlefield, know that I will always have your back. We serve together at a dangerous time. Our enemies will neither rest nor relent. And neither will we. We will stand shoulder to shoulder to meet the urgency of this moment.

Like each of you, I love my country and swore an oath to defend the Constitution. We will do that each and every day, as one team. Together we will accomplish the President's mission to deter war, and if necessary, defeat and destroy our enemies. Godspeed!

Maj Hegseth, still totally unqualified, except by MAGA standards, being pretty low for Trump picks. Trump screwed up. I hope nothing comes up in the next 4 years.

Yeah.

What did he do but fight in Iraq and graduate from Princeton.

Nowhere near as good as General Milley who said he "wants to understand white rage."

And Hegseth doesn't even want instructors teaching transgender and critical race theory ideology in the military.

What a disgrace I tells ya!

Elections have consequences I guess.

GENERAL Austin was far superior to this idiot.

At DEI. Not fighting in wars.

Thank God we didn't enter into one. Austin wouldn't have had a fucking clue. Mother fucker was out of commission hiding in a hospital for a fucking week and didn't even TELL Biden.

He got the fucking job because he was black. And a liar.

He fought in the Iraq war as a LT Platoon Leader. There is really quite a bit of difference in running tac over a platoon on a battle field, with all your missions assigned from above, as your part of a Company Commander's mission, his being part of a Battalion Commander's (note:he was never a Battalion Commander, even in The Guard), who's operation was directed by a Brigade Commander's mission, part of a Division mission strategy (note:No strategy at platoon level, only tactics and execution),

I expect he was a fine platoon leader. A 30 man platoon just does not give the organizational, logistical, experiences, levels of responsibility and knowledge gained from large organization, combined branch of service operations, coordination, and implementation. Sorry. It just doesn't.

Like I said, I am sure he was a credit to himself, his company Commander, to the National Guard, and the US Army as a whole.

I do hope nothing comes up, testing him in the next 4 years.

Yeah.

You actually know how the real fighters operate and their perception of conflict.

The "experts" you think should still be running things wanted to segregate the military by race, draft women and let trans into whichever gender quarters they most "identified" with.

The very fact you're deigning to defend such madness is clearly the result of your severe Trump Derangement Syndrome.

Take him out of the picture, and you wouldn't even remotely even contemplate asserting such dangerous drivel.

But the Operation Mockingbird assets really did a number on you I suppose.

Sad.

Not defending the DEI crap at all, and agree it has to change. Just saying, he does not have much military experience at responsibility above Company Grade officer level or at most staff section (smaller than Company and specific to either Battalion level logistics, Intel, transportation, communications or operation, all or any of those being small section, tunnel focused on their particular field, except Operations, where they put it all together to help commander by providing and coordination the inputs of the other sections.

Yeah. Can't trust one who actually had to FIGHT in a War.

Well here's the standard: everyone has been to school AND taxpayers pay my salary so everyone is an expert on teaching

I pay the military and have watched military shows, so I can be an expert too
