Trump fucked up with the "gift" 747. The BBC said that it is being retrofitted to serve as AF-1 at an expense of hundreds of millions, for what?? In 2028 Boeing will deliver two new 747s, so the retrofitted 747 will go to the Trump library, after wasting taxpayer dollars on a retrofit.

Yeah, hard to say what the angle is here. I'm not sure if Trump meant this as a slight towards Boeing, nor do I see the point of refitting this jet with all this work if the other two jets are just a couple years away, unless this Qatari jet can be finished sooner. Maybe Trump wants out of the current old jets.

Also, I do not see all of this top secret advanced technology staying in the jet once it is left to the Library.

Interesting fact: The two 747-8s being rebuilt by Boeing are originally from a defunct Russian airline.

True they were built for a Russian airline, but never delivered.
Seems outrageous that two AF-1s being ordered in 2018, and taking two new 747s from storage, Boeing still couldn't get them delivered in 10 years!!

Not sure who is retrofitting the Qatari jet, I assume Boeing, that makes no sense to retrofit the Qatari jet if it takes 10-years to do a retrofit. Trump will be long gone by the time any of them are certified flyable.

I hope he mothballs the old 747s and just uses the 757s until a new one is ready.

I'm sure Boeing would need to pull workers from the two new ones to be delivered in 2028 to work on the Qatari 747, which makes no sense.
