It goes both ways, I guess.
I can "get away" with being a prochoice Democrat
who identifies as Constitutionalist, because nobody
sees me as a threat. They also don't take me seriously either.
Because I don't fit the stereotypes of any group,
it becomes clear once you know me I only represent myself.
So that makes me not a threat because I'm not enabling other
groups to collectively abuse or attack each other.
If I were seen as a dangerous bullying male, who coerced people to impose beliefs on others,
especially by ganging up in groups,
I might be taken as a serious threat.
Only one friend of mine I met here on USMB
thought I could be a politically dangerous threat,
but that's only if other people followed what I said,
and they don't.
Since I'm not worth fighting,
it's easier to blow off conflicts with what I say
and write me off as nonsense. That's the easy way to resolve the conflict.
