According to Google, the store named Phar-Mor was started in 1982 when I was born. I used to live just a few miles away from one of them.

I remember my Grandfather taking me there on occasion.

Dairy Queen is not only still around but they built a new one not far.

I would say Woolworths, Newberrys and Mr Pivnicks Soda Shop on Broadway. Romeo's Kitchen in Times Square. Herbert's Sherbet Shoppe on Lombard Street. Finochhios night club. It almost hurts remembering all those places that are gone now.
