A yankee's view on the civil war

The taxes were imposed with our consent. We had an election. Three of them, in fact.

No it was not I guess you missed those protest.

Protests are nice but The People spoke, not just a minority. Obama was elected twice, and Democrats won the Senate in three straight elections. They had our consent and a mandate.

sixty-nine and sixty-one million out of three hundred plus million is not a majority of anything.

That is how our Constitutional, electoral process works, bigrebnc, whether you like it or not. Who cares.

^ Doesn't understand how elections work. ^ Thinks children and non-voters count in elections.

The Civil war: 1860s will have no bearing on any Civil unrest that might occur today.

As far as the video, he lost me on Northerners patting themselves on the back? Honestly I think most Northerners who aren't black don't give a shit about the Civil war. Unless your a military/history buff or had family who actually fought, most people up here have bigger things to worry about than something that happened 150 years ago when their families were sitting in Europe,Asia or the ME.

As far as possible civil unrest today. The issues are different so the lines will be completely different. well...that is if you can get our fat asses off the couch to do something about what we don't like. Sometimes I think if China wanted to invade all they'd have to do is promise Americans a large screen TV, two lazyboys,20 years of free junkfood and unlimited porn and they could just walk right in. The Mexicans give us food, drugs and lawn care and they walk in no problem. Civil war, not likely.

A civil war is not likely if the government is brought back under the control of the people. But their is no chance of that happening either.

A civil war isn't likely because fat ass Americans are lazy morons who vote based on sound bites and skin color rather then get involved with real issues. We don't care what Washington does as long as we have "stuff". To expect Americans to leave their comfort zone and launch a revolution really is expecting to much.

Elections have consequences. The dems won the presidency twice, passed ACA, forced a budget, controlled the Senate when they should have lost.

It's a majority of voters.

Voters determine elections.

Yes he got the majority of VOTERS, but the majority of Americans no he didn't.

Those who live in big cities or most that live in a big city will not fight, but we country boy's better watch out.

I'm with you, Jake. I have faith in America's kids, their future, and The US Constitution.

 To The Stars!!

Really? Have you seen the crop of kids they've been raising the last couple of decades?

Yep. Up close and personal. This old man has been going to a university for over a year now. Damned impressive bunch of kids. Wish I had their abilities with the computer technology. We are in good hands in spite of what we are leaving them.

What are we leaving them? Not a fucking thing but tyranny, and debt.

Get off it, dumb ass. The Americans in the cities are the same as the Americans in the country. Have lived in both places, am comfortable in both places. And there ain't gonna be some silly civil war. Fruitloops like you are all flap-yap and no action. You probably don't even bother to vote.

That's laughable. How many big cities restrict gun ownership? Be honest.

Damn, were this tyranny, you would not be posting the drivel that you do. We are leaving them an environment that is polluted, an atmosphere that is rapidly warming the climate. We are also leaving them the most wonderful technology that mankind has had up to now. We are leaving them a nation in which the majority have a roof over their heads and enough to eat. Not perfect, but far better than my parents grew up in during the Great Depression.

Debt? Well, the debt to GDP ratio was worse after WW2. Of course, then the people were sane enough to adjust the tax rates to pay off that debt, all the while investing in things like the Interstate System and NASA. Today, we have some neanderthals that think that if you tax the very wealthy the world is going to end. Well, Atlas didn't shrug during the '50's, and he sure as hell won't now.

obamatax NSA "homeland Stasi " the patriot act, warrant-less wire tapping chipping away at the second amendment. that's what we are leaving them.

Having lived in at least three of America's urban wastelands and having also live in rural areas I have to tell you that you are somewhat mistaken about the peaceful urbanites.

Every day is a war for the bad boys of urban america, kid.

The bad boys of America's bad cities would/will eat the country bumpkins alive if the kind of anarchy you imagine will happen, actually happens.

So you'd best truly PREPARE, kid because those bad urban boys are used to dishing it out AND taking it, too.
