Democratic New York Senator Jamaal Bailey understands firsthand how challenging it is to find a hair stylist trained in his hair texture.

He told Allure magazine he often runs into scenarios where he’s not in his neighborhood but in need of a quick tape-up or shape-up — and left debating who around him might be qualified.

“The struggle is real,” he said.

This is partly why, in April, he introduced Bill S6528A, a new law in New York state that will require all hair stylists to be trained in all textures.

“It’s not only common sense; [it’s] the right thing to do,” Sen. Bailey told Allure when speaking about the new law. He added, “It’s personal.”

And Progs don't understand why we despise them.

Time is coming, y'all.

When the adults regain control. the children are not going to be able to adjust and we're going to need a lot of "accommodations" for them, when they totally lose it.

.

Is there a supposed issue with this? What’s wrong with someone who wants to be a licensed hair stylist to be familiar with all types of hair? Why would anyone be against this ?

A bill?

This takes the decision out of the hands of the stylist.

Totalitarianism.

And y'all wonder why I love living in Flyover Country.

I agree a bill should not have been needed as covering all type of hair should have already been part of the curriculum for a professional hair stylist. The fact that it wasn’t covered should be the issue. What is the stylist no longer able to decide?

Being familiar or being required? Gosh .. maybe they should make chefs required to cook all styles of foods ... or how about athletes to be proficient in all sports .. or some other stupid, control that democrats think of for their sheeple to follow.

If you go to a culinary school you are required to take classes that cover many different types of cooking, if you work at Denny’s not so much. Same here cut hair in your kitchen without a license then do as you wish. If you go to a school for a professional degree then yeah you will be required to take certain classes. I have a music degree but part of that was still taking history and English

You're comparing elective and pre-requisite classes to get a degree / certification, as opposed to a required schedule of every elective and prerequisite to graduate as a chef.

What are you trying to say here? I honestly don’t understand what point you are trying to make

This will result in a shortage of hair stylists. A lot of states have been doing away with these onerous licensing requirements because they are largely protectionism for an elite few.

Forcing anyone to learn everything of a professional trade through legislation is stupid ...
They are not forced to learn everything, having a general understanding and training on the basics of all hair textures for a professional hair stylist is common sense.

Perhaps with this law an addendum of different levels of degrees can be created. This is what happens when laws are created that can be questionable. Ethnic and cultural areas give hair styling/haircuts to the people indigenous to those neighborhoods.

You have not given a compelling reason for government intervention into hair styling

This isnt a life or death issue
