$22.62 minimum wage!

If instead the federal minimum wage had grown at the same rate as one-percenter earnings, it would sit at $22.62 per hour today — 212 percent higher than the current wage floor.

More like $23.50/hr.

Where The Minimum Wage Would Be If The Top One Percent Didn't Leave Workers Behind

60% - Where the US unemployment rate would with a $22.62 minimum wage.
0% - Where the US manufacturing base would be at $22.62 minimum wage.
$40 - What a Big Mac would cost at a $22.62 minimum wage.
99.5% - The amount of the country's wealth that the 1% would own.

See that last one! When big government socialist take over like in the USSR, the top all gets richer and the rest get poorer. See big regulations that are suppose to hit the large corps actually HELP the large corps. Yes it cost them money, but large corps can absorb the cost and push those costs onto the consumer. Small business that employee the majority of Americans and create the majority of self made "rich" people, can't absorb the cost and can't push the cost onto consumers. They become non-competitive. The large corps thank the government for killing off the pesty competition!

Yeah, we could be like a third world country where most people have little opportunity.
We already are.

Why should a CEO be allowed to make 360 times that of the average serf?
They shouldn't.
Why should a CEO be allowed to make 360 times that of the average serf?

Because he's worth it.
Bullshit.

Minimum wage $23.50...
That's an insult.
I won't even consider this until we start to talk about minimum wage being at least $25.00
Then at least we can have a discussion...

Let's make it 100 bucks an hour! In fact, why bother with 'hourly' wages? Let's just give everyone $100,000 a year. Wait, is that enough???

What is living wage?

Needing a roof over your head, needing clothes and needing food, those are the essentials. So what is living wage? Has the far left ever answered that question?

Jeez this is like watching a five year old trying to figure out an Algebra equation.

Why would anyone pay that amount for laborers with no skill and who are available by the tens of thousands?

You should move to Venezuela.

Are you really asking that question? Isn't it obvious?

Here's the answer...because tens of millions of Americans with no discretionary income drag the economy down.

Being able to pay the rent, buy groceries, buy your medicine, pay for your insurance (stupid Yanks just need to go UHC) etc.

At least $500 a week.

I heard once (no link) that the stock market investors are mostly the wealthy, yet Democrats tout the stock market as an Obama success.. It would follow then that Obama/Democrats support the wealthy yet are in denial or being, you know, hypocritical..

Actually, we use those stats in comparison to those living a little closer to earth as a way to refute republican talking points about him being a "socialist."

For example:

Yep.

Worst. Socialist. Ever. :lol::lol::lol:

And why do you think the stock market is so high? It's because the Federal Reserve is pumping money into the economy and monetizing are own debt (which they promised they wouldn't do) at the expense of enormous debt that future generations will have to deal with. The Fed acts as a central price control over money, which is CENTRAL PLANNING! We can quibble about semantics, but that sure as fuck ain't free market capitalism.

Heck while we are at it, there is no reason we shouldnt move it up to $30 even. If we are going to arbitrarily put it at $23.50 than $30 would be even better, right?:)

That's what I find so ironic about everything. They complain about the top 1% having all the wealth and then advocate policies that insure that the top 1% keep all the wealth.

The wealthy progressives of the world understand that. They stir up class divisions when there are none so they can keep their power. See, they already have their money. So increasing the taxes on the "wealthy" doesn't really effect them, because they have their money already. It only prevents others people from becoming wealth and by doing this they preserve their power base.

They succeed in their intentions by making people jealous of others and telling them they should punish the "rich" when all they are doing is punishing anyone who dares make enough money to challenge their power.

This is precisely why we as a people should rid ourselves of such envyings and jealousies. I am not angry at my brother because he makes more money than me. Nor am I angry at my brother because he makes less money than I do. As long as we continue to let people stir up anger between us because of some phoney class structure they've created, we will never be as wealthy as we could be.

In addition, since we are all individual people/families each with our own varying needs, why should we presume everyone needs the same amount of money to live?

Also, since the progressives are so big on the environment. Why is it that they are calling for artificial wage increases? Shouldn't they be encouraging people to live off of less? I mean it just seems more consistant with there professed philosophy.

What a high minimum wage does is lock out all entry level workers. Someone who gets a job at 17 mopping floors and emptying trash in a fast food joint and makes enough money to support his family on minimum wage locks into that job and never moves up. There is no entry level job available for the next 17 year old. This is what is happening in Europe where the unemployment rate for entry level workers is above 30%.

A high minimum wage destroys incentive, why bother moving on if you are comfortable where you are?

If the dollar continues inflating, you may be regardless.

I hear a lot of my fellow Libertarians rail against fiat currency. What most of them fail to realize is that ALL currency is fiat.

First, what does fiat mean?

fiat [ˈfaɪət -æt]
n
1. official sanction; authoritative permission

So a currency recognized as legal tended is a fiat currency by definition, even if it is gold coins, ruby's, or Nukem Cola bottle caps.

A dollar is simply a marker, a medium of exchange. It has no intrinsic value. It's value is pegged to the amount of goods and services that others will trade in exchange for it. Artificially inflating wages is a useless and destructive measure, it does not increase the value of flipping a burger, it simply disrupts the ratio of trade for a short period, as the market moves to find equilibrium through general inflation.

Ultimately, trade MUST depend on value. All acts have a value, based on the difficulty of the act and the scarcity of those who can perform the act. Though I think throwing a ball through a hoop is an utterly worthless act, society values it, the difficulty is high and few can do it well, so the value of a professional basketball player is high. Conversely, virtually anyone can flip a burger and press the picture buttons on the cash register, monkeys or even democrats can be trained to do these jobs. The difficulty is extremely low and the number who can do it is infinite, thus the value of the job is extremely low. The belief that mandates from rulers can alter the value of the task is simple stupidity.

The only way that it will work is if trade is dissolved and slavery used. As long as a market is employed, value will assert. The only way to stifle the assertion of value is a totalitarian system where the state mandates who does what and who receives what benefits.

Yeah, I'd pay ten bucks for a 'Teen Burger'. Wouldn't you?
At the time when the 'third world' is waking up and already making/selling everything the US customer buys in the Big Box stores, to people making plastic buttons in NJ why not pay them $22.00 an hour?
Typical LIB nonsense.

Yea, I too hate people with little education, low IQs, physical limitations, or no working experience. Fuck those assholes, they should be prevented from working by a minimum wage. We need more people on the dole dammit! I'm right there with you comrade.

I also support the increase in the price of goods that minimum wage causes, especially since it tends to be the very goods the people on minimum wage must buy to survive. Awesome! Just like you, I too hate poor people.

More central planning of the economy, what could be better?!

25k a year minimum for every person. Why answer it? Some retarded capitalist fuck would just whine bitch and complain about making sure their slaves were getting paid a decent wage.

Sure, but how much?

Let's do the numbers!

An employee making $10.00/hr + 32% or $3.20/hr + healthcare $3.00/hr = $16.20/hr. Since this figure is 100% subsidized, after deductions is about 30%, or $4.86/hr which is the net cost of the employee.

Look, I realize that shitting on police cars is your one and only talent, still let us dissect the idiocy you posted...

An employee making $10.00/hr

Okay

+ 32% or $3.20/hr

32% for what? Where did you dream up this number?

+ healthcare $3.00/hr

Where the fuck did you come up with this fiction?

ACA compliant health insurance STARTS at $624 a month for insured + dependents, and goes WAY up from there.

Since this figure is 100% subsidized,

It is?

after deductions is about 30%, or $4.86/hr which is the net cost of the employee.

What in the fuck are you babbling about?

Stick to shitting on police cars, it's your only talent.

True story.

The 32% is, I believe! a Federal employee tax.
If you hire an employee for 100K/year, you are taxed an additional 33K.
Apparently, OnePercenter has run a business and actually knows this.

You are close! Employers side of Federal, (State, and local taxes if applicable), plus a biggie that nobody got, workers comp. The entire cost is 100% deductible which reduces taxes. Take the tax savings, subtract from employees cost, which gives you net cost of employee. Again, good job!
