Unless they purchased from companies that have apps that collect GPS data, like satnav apps, they are getting cell location data. And that is inaccurate. As I said, even GPS is inaccurate indoors or in downtown settings in large cities.

It can guess you are at LA fitness, unless it's the only business in the building. Google asked me a few times if I wanted to leave a review for my business. The office is on the 4th floor of a building. I could have been anywhere else in that building. but it's likely because the address along with the company name is in my contacts.
Wrong my LA Fitness is a multi Tenant 4 story office building. There is 1 elevator lobby and 10 other tenants. Across the street is a small retail building with a Boost Mobile, Subway and Burger King. It knows which one I go into. Same addresses for both buildings.
